Anyone see the Amoskeag auction results for their latest auction. Saw one HK WITH sear sell for 23K! Even with buyers premium they got a bargain. Also saw several other sear guns sell for 26K with HK hosts. There were a lot of bargains in that auction...should have been bidding myself if I wasn't retiring.

Hi John,

I actually attended that auction in person to bid on NFA stuff.
FWIW, I think there were problems with online bidding at times.
Yes, There were some decent prices to be had by people on-site.

At what point does a trend of "underpriced" sales become the new market value.

Those were across the board lower and mostly in ratio to their peers. Interesting to see the market soften. I need to make some plans to snag my HK sear sooner than later.

I think that with transfers taking a year or more per Form 4 transfers, some buyers are shying away. Especially those buyers with more of an investment aspect to the purchase. It seems that many think the economy is at or near the peak. Prices of luxury items tend to soften during a downturn in the economy. If the sear requires two Form 4 transfers, it could be 2021 before the purchaser has the sear in hand. By that time there could be a further softening of the market.

I want an HK sear and didn't realize they had softened that much. Do y'all think this was a fluke or the new normal?

IMHO, the 29.6K HK sear + host #s are below public market price and from a low-risk source.
Prob ~5K under market price.
Seller likely would have done better on GB

Let's not forget that the percentage of voters owning firearms of any kind is decreasing and has since the 1960's. That logically means that generally the number of firearms each owner possesses is increasing.

Maybe the market is temporarily(?) saturated.

Maybe the bumpstock fiasco has some NFA owners nervous.

Anyone who has owned a MG for at least 10 years is easily into the money and maybe they are happy to cash in some and remove risk at prices double maybe what they paid.

Do we know these guns definitely sold for those prices? The reason I ask is Morphy “sells” guns but after the auction some of them don’t actually sell because the “reserve or some agreement is not met”. There was a mini uzi bolt gun that went for $7500 hammer price at the auction but after the auction was over it showed as not sold. There were multiple guns that went this way.
I’m wondering if all of these guns actually sell for the prices posted. High bid doesn’t mean sale price.

Yes, those are definitely actual sale prices.

I was on-site for the bidding on the first day when MGs were being sold.
I bid on a number of the MGs listed above,
wrote them a check at the end of the day for what I won,
and they sent me F4s to file...

Yep - I'm 100% sure the numbers above are real numbers.

BTW, here is an example of an unsold item listing: https://live.amoskeagauction.com/m/...tm=any&order=order_num&xclosed=no&featured=no

And there were serious buyers present:
e.g.
https://live.amoskeagauction.com/m/...catm=any&order=highest&xclosed=no&featured=no
