Saw this on a few other forums.
Figured I'd post it here also.

Hold onto your wallets factory ammo is about to get even more expensive.

Could possibly be 100% mark up by the time it hits consumer shelves due to freight, storage, Distro price hike, & how many places it gets touched by others before making it to the commercial retail shelves.

At my local Academy, boxes of 50 WWB 9mm 115 gr that USED to be $13.00 are now $18.00 when they can be had, which is rarely. That's 38%.

An informal conversation with the owner of a local chain of gunshops / hunting supply stores told me that they were offered $.80 per round (wholesale price) Yugoslavian-made 9mm and he opted to not buy / carry it as he didn't want the reputation of selling $1.50/rd 9mm. And he add "but it all sold so it's coming".

We have two types of ammo here in 9mm

FMJ 115 that is 50 for 50 ( a buck a round)
And the out of stock stuff that price doesn't matter cause no one has it.

Around here a 100% markup means 2 bux a shot or 100 bux for 50 FMJ 115's
It's this price anywhere ya go or they don't have any in stock.

I've been buying factory 50 ae for 2 bux a shot shipped for the last three weeks. Just cause it's cheaper to buy it loaded right now then reload it.
And 454 casull for less then a buck a shot. Same deal cheaper then loading it.
Ironically that's cheaper then pre retard prices.

Unfortunately even if I slow down shooting at some point ill need primers and powder in 10 + years to keep reloading.
Sooner or later im gonna have to pay.
Just glad it's a lot later then sooner.

Anywho looks to be about a month for the non reloading crowd to suck it up and stock up.
Or continue to piss & moan about prices.

I'm sure with he hike it will be porn star level pissing & moanimg though.
Not the little hissy fits we see and read now on the net.

One would think that at some point, shooting ranges cease to be the supply point for once-fired brass as folks stop going and save their supply. And if so, used brass prices have to reflect that.

In 9mm I only shoot my reloads and I tend to come home with more empties than I started with. So far nobody has called me out but I suspect that's coming.

I can't find primers at any cost. One day this stuff is going to be super cheap again with a large overstock of supply in everyone's basement.

Pretty sure the Distributors are selling directly on Gunbroker and bypassing the retailers.

Based on volumes and frequency.

Not true distributors, but there are a number of "distributors" who also run a retail side. Yes, you're competing against their retail and you're also helping your competition by increasing their numbers so they get better rates but in normal times it can make sense for a smaller or home based dealer. There are not normal times though and those "distributors" don't need to divide the inventory between themselves and their dealer network since they can make their profit directly without any wait and their numbers are maxed without selling to other dealers. There's a lot of dirty little secrets in the firearms food chain.

Gunbroker is loaded with primers and powder

Arch is right.
There are good deals still on gb to be had. They do however require a bit of work on your part.

Here is a tip to getting stuff off of gb without getting scalped.

Check the BIN several times a day. There are sellers still doing BIN at decent prices so it goes fast.
It's how I have been buying the large bore pistol ammo.

One guy had 40 rnds of the 50 ae for 80 shipped. Some idiot had bid it up to 25 bux and it had the BIN set with 80 shipped and 9 days 23 hrs left.
I just hit the BIN. I do this all the time.
It takes a bit of work to check through the listing a few times a day but if you look you will see some bids for the same hornandy 50 ae ammo
At 3 times the amount because people are just doing what ever like not checking often.

Another tip
if you are making a large dollar purchase and they have the BIN.
Send them a message last two times I saved 180 in tax & over 400 on another item and they saved seller fees.
This was with reputable ffl sellers if your just buying low dollar items not much sense trying to negotiate.
But after the 1st message I've come away with the ffl's phone number without asking for it.
Win win for both parties.

I have only seen a decrease in the Russian stuff so far, the US made seems to be increasing instead of decreasing. It won't last forever, it's not food so it's not something everyone
NEEDS, just wants.
