For anyone interested in making their own or buying a rail system for their SMG or SA top cover, here is a good way to have the cover fit the receiver to maximize accuracy.
Step One:
Place Saran Wrap or equiv (.0005" thick) on your receiver.
Step Two:
Use JB Weld or equiv and apply to both ends of the top cover. Be sure to apply to the bottom of the inside of the cover and the sides. Not a lot is needed.
Step Three:
Place the top cover on the receiver and let sit over night.
This process yields a slip fit between the top cover and the receiver that will repeat accurately so your point of impact wont change. This was a lot easier than when I welded pads and milled to the correct dimension.
This method gives a custom fit rather than any slop a manufacturing process would produce. (not all receivers are the exact width, so a one size fits all would have slop or rub the receiver finish off........)
