Hello All,

I am trying to silver solder a block in the trigger assembly on my "new" Uzi, but the solder will not stick to the lower? It sticks very well to the block that I have. I am using flux and I cleaned all the paint off of the lower, but it still will not stick. Any hints?

thanks,
tdk

Are they dissimilar metal? If not it sounds like you are too cold.
Would TIG be better? If so,I can do that.(I can also silver solder for thet matter)
Post a photo of the weld you are trying to do, and I will see if I can help.

If you have any oil residue at all it won't stick, are you using a MAPP torch, a regular propane one will not get the area hot enough, I know it will work, Pa. Patriot did the same thing to an Uzi lower someone was building into a semi.

Bore a hole in the center of your block, and "rosette" (spelling) the hole with either TIG or MIG. Maybe see if a local body shop has a pinch type spot welder, but the MIG or TIG be the quickest/easiest to do, and shows intent of permanent mounting,, even though the block in the semi groups is spot welded.
