I am just about 100 % done now with my assembly and have what I think is my last question.
Does the barrel have to be attached permanently? Or is removeable OK? Any help on this would be appreciated.
TIA
ProudCR:)
PS- When I am completely finnished I can post all the ifs ands or buts of what it took to accomplish this if any one would be interested.

Sorry, I lost track of what you were assembling exactly. It depends on the other features of the gun. If the stock is fixed and there is no bayonet lug, you could leave the barrel free. But if the lug is there, then you must fix the barrel. In other words, limit those evil AW features. Or even better, get rid of that nasty evil thing, you don't need it anyway. :lol Karl.

Hey there. I would think the date of manufacture of your receiver would be the deciding factor. If it pre-ban, it should be like all the AR-15 receivers out there, and pretty much open to your imagination. That would trump the bayo lug issue effectively. I would think.

Pre ban status is determined by if the weapon was built into a complete gun (in pre-ban configuration) before the ban or was in a "kit" form (all parts + rcvr, w/pre-ban features).
Don't have it handy but the text of the AW ban states the above.

Receiver date is NOT the determining factor according to the law.
Any receivers not built into a pre-ban config or pre-ban kit form by Sept of 94 are *legally* post ban.

That's the law end of it :) But like most laws + the burdon of proof, many feel safe building on any pre ban *dated only* rcvr since there is virtually no way to *prove* the rifle was not assembled in preban form before sept 94 vs. laying on a shelf somewhere. I'm not endorsing such actions, only reporting them.

FWIW :)

Hey there. You are correct. I have to re-read the various inane and basically Un-Constitutional laws every now and again. I always wonder why they included the 9th Amendment, and the 10th, if they didn't figure we would live by them
