This has been a curiosity to me since about 2-3 years ago I bought 5 100-rd boxes of Federal Champion 36gr .22LR and it came in boxes identical to the CCI clear plastic sliding top boxes.
I couldn't tell any difference in the projectiles or cases either. The CCI 36gr HP Mini-mag appeared identical to the Federal Champion HP save the headstamp.
I discovered both were owned by ATK shortly after the purchase.
A recent test of a troublesome gun revealed that both the Federal and CCI were identically reliable and the performance was identical - and different from other brands and cartridges.
I haven't seen Federal in these 100 rd boxes for years and am wondering if that was by design to keep the CCI branding / marketing unique and intact.
