Convert a full size top cover to micro length?

I have a micro Uzi that I'd like to mount an RMR or optic of some kind. I don't wish to modify the existing top cover, but replacements are rare as hens teeth. Has anyone cut down a full size top cover and successfully installed it on a micro/pistol?

You can cut a full-size top cover down to fit a Mini UZI, but not a Micro/Pistol. The Micro/Pistol top cover has a lot of differences other than just length. The width is slightly different due to thinner receiver material, the front is considerably different, and the cocking knob assembly and the way it contacts the bolt is different.
