AC556K and can question in relation to a M16

How well does the AC 556 with a 13" barrel suppress? If I put a Raider on it can I fire it without earplugs? Does it sound like a .22lr? I have fired an M16 14.5 barrel with a suppressor and it was decent, enough to not bother the neighbors, which is all I'm looking for, and was wondering if the two were similar. Thanks.

ruger threads are 9/16-24, and m16 threads are 1/2-28, other then that your suppressor work about the same

It's more expensive to thread the AC556/Mini14 barrel 1/2-28 as apposed to making a adapter. The barrel can be threaded with having to remove it from the receiver.

I made the adapter in about 10-15 mins in my shop. I thought it was a lot easier then removing the barrel. Ruger threads are a tight tolerance and they use some really good lock-tite. You have to heat up a lot to get the barrels off.

You can thread the barrel with out removing it from the receiver. (and still thread between centers)

I'd be a little worried if a adapter was made out of aluminum in a AC556.

Fred, how does the AC556 sound with your suppressor? Is that a KAC? Can I buy an adaptor off TROS for the AC556 to m16?

I bought one from Mark McWillis at TROS. I have a stainless shorty folder and he did one in natural stainless for me. It works great with Ceiner kit although I haven't gotten my hands on a .223 can to try it yet. The TROS adapter is just fine at 9/16X24 to 1/2 X 28.
