I just paid for one.
I never thought I’d get one due to the cost.
However, I figured since Lage hasn’t increased their prices, these uppers has actually went down a good chunk due to inflation.

I just got back from the range this morning. I was testing the Cry Havoc Quick Detach Barrel system for the Max-11A1/15 upper this last week. I was having a few issues but Richard very generously helped me through the issues. I must have switched between the QDB system and Richard's OEM upper about 20 times in the last 2 weeks.

I think the Cry Havoc QDB is the better QDB system over the DOLOS and LEO because it does not use springs and is lighter. I think the proprietary gas tubes are the weakness for the Cry Havoc system because they are not nitrided and are not as cheap as standard gas tubes. They could be made from standard tubes if you have access to a lathe.

The upper has been flawless for the last week in 223 and 300 BO. I think Richard's extra power spring has really made a difference. I recommend picking one up when you get the upper.

My Armatac 150 round SAW-Mag ran flawlessly too for last 3 times, except for the one stovepipe that was probably caused by my brass catcher filling up. I love the SAW-MAG. I might need to save to buy another.

The Max-11A1 with a bipod, RDS and Richards polymer stock feels like a real SAW. I just love it. I also agree with Richard, it seems to run cleaner with an open bolt system.

I feel ready to buy a 223 20" HBAR for another QDB configuration. Who needs a retirement.

It worked great this morning. 300 rounds, only one stovepipe. That watermelon mist smell!

Parts for the 18" QDB are in the mail.

Lage offers 2 different IRM recoil springs, although only one is listed on the website. If you need it, he has it. It's mentioned in the manual.

Has anyone shot this upper without adding lubricant to the bolt? Curious if anyone took it out of box and ran it as is and if it still ejected shells flawlessly. I have not yet shot mine

We shot it no ears. It was fine. Not saying it was Hollywood quiet.

Also, it’s a larger 762 suppressor. I’d suggest using one like that for a full auto 556 plus it beat he’s easier. No Back pressure as I recall

It’s lubricated before we test fire it, so go for it!

My jeep is a little bit older than the firearm. I'll have to buy a mount for the sports bar.

I had a little trouble with the new 18" barrel combo this morning. After tuning the gas setting, it was running really great. On round 75, I had a OBD and blew the bottom of the carrier and an aluminum mag apart. The cartridge head was left on the bolt face and separated from the case body. 90% of the case is still in the barrel. The bolt still rotates in the carrier but the extractor is bent outward. Even thought the bolt lugs were unlocked, the bent extractor made it difficult to separate the bolt from the barrel collar. I had to take the upper apart to get the carrier and bolt out.

I'm taking the new 18" Ballistics Advantage barrel to a gunsmith to look at the chamber. It looks ruff. I want to inspect the neck area of the chamber with a probe. It was really a challenge to remove the case. I had to cast the throat and push the case out.

I think the Cry Havoc QDB is part of the problem. I would not recommend using the system with the Max system until we know more about the problem. I think there may be tolerance stacking issues.

I will send the A1 upper back to The Wizard this week for inspection. The charging handle rod is not sliding easily. The receiver may be bent. I really hope its repairable. I love this thing.

Damn. I'm sorry to hear that! Talk about taking one for the team. I am considering swapping to a 20" 5.56 barrel and "triangle" grips with a delta ring. Now I may just keep the OEM barrel nut, and go with free-float guard.

I hope your Max15 is salvageable!
