Hello all,

I was examining a pre-86 Uzi SMG that had a five digit serial number on the left rear of the receiver (12xxx), a "3" stamped under the receiver where the stock folds, and "L.E.S. Skokie IL" (importer?) on the right rear of the receiver. ARS trigger housing. No other markings whatsoever on the receiver - though I did not check under the handguards.

The Form 3 says the manufacturer is IMI. But is it?? Thoughts/info?

Thanks...

Yes, it sounds like a legit pre-sample IMI UZI. L.E.S. imported them in the 1970's, before the days of Action Arms. Most of the L.E.S. guns will say IMI on the left side of the receiver but it's possible to find them without those markings. Those early guns were for LE and government, and sometimes they had nonstandard markings.

I have a LES IMI Uzi, odd thing about it and other LES imported pre 86 dealer samples I have observed is that while factory full auto they will only accept semi auto barrels.
