I know barrelxchange offers a fiber optic front sight for the model A uzi. But I was wondering if anyone offered a sight for the Model B. If you know of someone or of a easy modification, please let me know.:slap

After looking at the awesome job "Amphibian " did with his modified front sight,I started thinking. wouldnt it be easier to just but a $20 front sight from vector, grind down the sight then drill and tap it for a ar15 front sight post ? That would give us a multitude of options to use . Let me know what you think. I just saw that Dillon is offering a new fiber optic front sight for the ar15 and it would look really nice on a uzi as well.:bang

You know what would be nicer, is if someone "skilled in the art" would make these and sell them. Unfortunately for me I am mechanically challenged.:silly

UZI Talk member barrelxchange has worked on a fiber optic sight for the UZI. I don't think he has them available quite yet. Maybe he can give us an update on when they'll be ready.

I thought about that also but the front sights I've seen are also hardened. Hard to work with.
Mine was easy to make on a lathe but still time consuming.
I've been thinking about doing a run for the members here. Looking at no more than $20 each.

Barrelxchange or Amphibian, is it worth anyone's time to take the lead on this on? This would be great for my model B.

Thanks,

Dave

Robert,

If you do decide to make them, you know I'm down for one.

Well, BarrelXChange mentioned doing it for the Model A. I don't have any interest in doing the Model A since:
1. He is doing it.
2. I don't have a Model A

Note that there is a little "issue" I'd like to mention with my adapter.

Since the spring loaded detent that prevents the front sight from rotating on the UZI and AR/M16 are obviously different, I just picked the sight I planned on using, tightened it all the way down then used the Dremel to cut a notch in my adapter to prevent it from turning.

I know I could machine a recess to hold a spring and detent to prevent the AR front sight from spinning but then it goes from a being a ~$20 part to being more expensive and complicated.
I made the adapter for myself and shared the idea here as I didn't think their would be that much interest.
If I do a small run of them, I want to do them just like the one I did for myself. Simple and with it's "flaws".
The end user will need to cut the notch in the side of the adapter to engage the UZI's detent.

I also didn't bother to refinish mine. Mine was made from stainless steel.
