Have a chance to buy some authentic surplus Israel 9mm sub gun ammo. Anyone familiar with this ammo? Ammo is dated 1977 and comes in a steel ammo can. Owner of the ammo thinks it "might be" mildly corrosive. Price is pretty good. My UZI is a FA IMI. I always thought it would be nice to have actual ammo that was issued to the Israel troops for their UZI's. Anyone ever hear of UZI's rusting due to corrosive ammo? Buy or no buy? Here's a link to the ammo.

Requires extra cleaning steps and priced a bit " HIGH " for corrosive ammo....

That is not a great price. I have some of this in Red tracer. It’s old I have had a few that failed to fire. The ammo is corrosive and very hot it’s +P+. I have several thousand rounds of the stuff it’s “just ok” nothing special.

BTW I learned the hard way that it was corrosive. I cleaned like normal after shooting and the next week the barrel and bolt face had rusted. You have to go the extra mile with this stuff for sure.

Personally I don't shoot corrosive ammo anymore. Something happens and you cant fully clean the weapon after shooting and a week later you are dealing with rust. Up till a couple weeks ago, I was paying $170 a case for modern brass cased 9mm. So its a bit high for corrosive ammo IMHO.

"Mildly corrosive" = "Mildly pregnant".

Clean the firearm with a water-based cleaner, or just hot water and soap. Don't forget the gas system in guns that have them. Dry thoroughly and apply oil afterwards to protect against rust.

Agree with previous posters that the price is meh, and if that +P+ ammo ends up in a pistol, you will batter it severely in a short time (One round? Ten rounds? Depends on the pistol.)

If you are familiar with Black Powder firearms, you have an idea of how to deal with corrosive ammo. IMHO, while I love Muzzleloaders, Cap&Ball Revolvers, etc, I don't mess with corrosive ammo; just too much of a hassle.

is 9mm that expensive now?

In my area, prices aren't bad but most places are running short of 9mm, 40S&W, 22LR, 556, etc, and have a limit on purchase amount. (Favorite LGS is 3 boxes per Caliber per day)

I had some Israeli ammo years ago and the primers were so hard my Glock wouldn't ignite it.

I still have some of that really dirty Egyptian ammo. It is so corrosive after I shoot the uzi and clean barrel with hot water it still would get rust the next day. Second cleaning and it was fine. I shoot a lot of corrosive 54r and 8mm but that Egyptian 9mm was the worst. Also super hard primers, not for handguns!

I had some of that years ago; nastiest, stinkiest ammo I've ever encountered!

I inherited an ammo can full of it. I loaded it all up in magazines now. It's smelly, and dirty, and ROF varies. But, it was free! Only thing that ever corroded was the barrel. I just keep it super clean.

I have IMI 9mm that is marked on the case for the UZI SMG.
It works great in my STEN!
We sold quite a bit of it at Knob Creek, one gent buys a lot of it every show for his UZI's.
Another buyer runs it in his MP-40 as the commercial 9mm doesn't seem to be reliable in that gun.
Only one SMG shooter had ignition issues, and that was an MP-5.
The MP-5 is closed bolt with a firing pin and apparently the energy wasn't enough to set off the primers.
