I tried to mount the QD stock on my Vector tonight. After playing with it for a bit I figured out the problem. The bottom release latch doesn't quite lock in place with the square hole that is cut on the receiver. I may call Scott at Vector and ask his opinion. I'm NOT going to change the hole so I need to grind the latch on the stock a bit to make it work.

Yes, you will have to file the inner corner of the metal attaching piece on the stock for it to lock in. Grinding shouldn't be necessary and will make the stock wobbly when attached if too much material is removed.

Help for re-inserting stock nut?

Yes, you will have to file the inner corner of the metal attaching piece on the stock for it to lock in. Grinding shouldn't be necessary and will make the stock wobbly when attached if too much material is removed.

Sorry to revive an older thread, but I've got a related issue with my Vector S/A SBR... after removing the wood QD stock to re-attach the original metal folder. The interior metal stock retaining nut, that goes between the plastic buffer and the rear of the reciever - I assume the flat metal portion should be at the bottom? If so, any "trick" to re-inserting this part? It is the original nut that was in the Vector SBR. No modifications have been made to it or the hole. It will go in "upside down" but does not want to reinsert with the flat metal part down?? Any help/tips appreicated. Thanks!

hi the flat part does go down. if you get it in going down, hold it with ur finger and start the bolt. put the buffer in to help hold it in place. take the bolt back out and slide ur folder on, put the bolt back in. i just put a wood stock on mine, and had to change that piece. to permanently attach mine. it was a lil tricky the first time.

Thanks for clarifying. For some reason it does not want to insert back into that hole with the flat part down? Really strange, since no modifications were made, other than swapping out the stocks. I might give Vector a call and see if they have any tips/ideas, since they built it. BTW - the darker finish on your wood stock looks great! Nice foregrip too!

In some states the carbine with folder meets over all length requirements, BUT not with the detached stock off - check your local state laws.

I pin my take off latch if i play with my wood stock (Washington State)

Mine is a SBR in TX, so no legal issues with the QD stock. I called Vector today and spoke with Scott. He's not sure why the original part wouldn't re-install, but advised deburring/de-horning the edges of the lower/flat portion with a Dremel wouldn't be an issue. I'll tackle that this weekend. Thanks again!

Thanks to Scott at Vector & all the UZITALK Forum members for the help. As you can see from the below photos, I was able to de-bur the stock nut and reinstall the metal-folder and I also better fit the wood stock too. Since I had the Dremel out, just for fun - I also worked on the fit for the UZI bayonet too. Thanks again!

A dremel is to fixing a firearm what a flamethrower is to baking a cake.

I'm just saying

Roger that, I wouldn't use a Dremel on the actual firearm per sea either. However it worked just fine with the $30.00 surplus, German QD stock bracket in this case. Fit on the Vector/GI UZI is now perfect. See below:
