If I had to guess, they're probably more comfortable to shoot.

When shooting, the wooden stock is more comfortable than the folding stock. But, the folding stock rates higher on the cool scale! I have both and the folding stock is on my Uzi much more.

just my 2 cents,
Dan

The wooden stock gives you a better cheek weld and a more comfortable cheek weld. Both of those features means better accuracy to some degree. The wood/polymer fixed stocks are also tighter and therefore give better accuracy. The folding stock is more cool and hides better. For competition, I'd recommend the fixed stock. For most other uses, the folder. Karl.

The color of the wooden stock is soooooo out of place. I would only consider a wood stock that was stripped, sanded, and refinished in black. A few coats of sealer would be required.

But a fixed polymer stock would be IDEAL. Too bad Vektorr wants $138 for it :cry

I agree with most of the above posts. If you want a solid cheek weld and tighter groups you need a fixed stock. If you have a beard, you probably need a fixed stock. If you shoot competition, you will probably fare better with a solid fixed stock. It looks out of place even though it was original to the first 10+ years of IMI production.

The folder is much sexier and nasty looking than the fixed stocks.
If you want to look cool while hosing cans and bottles, you need the folder. If you desire a compact package, you'll want a folder. No clear overall winner here unless you count looks over function.

Chris, the wooden stock is so much more comfortable to shoot with for long recreational shooting. The metal folder can be a bit cold to the cheek when its below freezing.
The wooden stocks can also be made to fit very tight, providing better accuracy.
I prefer the older type of wooden stock with a straight comb not the dipped out ones seen in most of the newer pictures. The straight comb gives you a higher line of sight and enables a better sight picture.
Go fire a thousand or so rounds with the folder on a real cold day, without a face mask on. You'll be ordering a wood stock very shortly afterwards.
A quick fix for the folder is to put a piece of that black foam rubber pipe insulation that comes in 5 or six foot lengths for 3/4 inch copper piping, (sold at almost every hardware store)and its split along its length. A short piece of this stuff acts as a nice cushion between the folder and your cheek.

Another reason for a wood stock is it would do more damage being butted in the face straight on with it than a folder, and could be detatched to be used as a club in hand to hand combat.

I was actually debating whether or not to strip my wood stock and spray it with bedliner but the wood came out so nice I don't want to ruin it. If I can find a beater at the Harrisburg gun show I'll probably buy it and do that. It is much more comfortable but do agree it doesn't exactly look kosher on an all black gun.

You got that right! Way too many whiskers have been ripped out of my face by folding/telescoping stocks on various firearms. :eek!

Also keep in mind if you want a "new" Uzi you can't have a folding stock, so a fixed stock is your only choice. I have shot my Uzi a few times now & always shot it with the stock out except once. Yes it's fun shooting from the hip but you've got to actually AIM to hit something at a distance of more than 25 yards. Ammo isn't free afterall. ;)

Jaw bone takes a beating, want to slide down the rail.

Bought a wood stock in the parts kit, seems to fit a lot better, just need to lengthen the "pull" to fit me.

Sure, the wooden stocks are more comfortable to shoot... however, there's nothing quite like slappin' da butt... down & out on the folder. IMHO... the folder, just ...you know.... looks right & it's what all us tuff guys use.... lol ...j/k

cookie... I couldn't begin to even guess how many follicles have been lost in combat with these stocks. The collapsible stocks on AR-15 variants seem to be the worst offenders. In retrospect, it all seems rather minor after having an M1-A slam fire out of battery due to a soft primer issue. The carbine survived just fine... & the blast shield of my AWC G-2 saved my bacon as the smell of cremated hair wafted throught the air!

Kinda made be look like Daffy Duck...w/o the beak!

I haven't shot an Uzi with a wooden/plastic stock on it, but the cheek weld on it has to be better than the folding stock. For me, shooting an Uzi with Iron sights, on a folding stock, is the worst cheek weld on any weapon that I have shot. My guess would be that it is more comfortable to shoot on an Uzi without any optical equipment.

Just an FYI. I was part of an exchange program and trained with the West German Army in 1983. The Uzi's they had all had wooden stocks and they qualified with them at 100 meters. Easy to control fun to shoot .:uzi
