I bought my Vector back when they were $2500 if you ordered three or more. I thought back then, I'm stealing these!

Uzi's used to be on par with HK's and M16's. Now they are 50% of those guns.

Vector seemed to be giving them away, they would not have sold out as fast if they had charged more initially and raised the prices more regularly to match the rapidly increasing NFA prices. But they still would have sold them all.

So why did Vector sell their UZI's so cheap?

Just a guess, but maybe they were trying to make a name for themselves quickly in the firearms market, they do have other stuff in development and on the market now that few are making or making well. Just my .02

1) Had bills to pay.

2) Nice guys.

3) Didn't understand business.

4) ????

You are right though, they could have made a whole lot more money if they had better controlled the market, but then, who is to say they are not doing that know, and have over 1000 Uzi left?

For example, I think Craig Wheatley (Tactical Inc), still has over 3000 M11/9 SMGs he is holding, waiting for the market to go up.

Cheap?!?!?!?!?
As I recall from previous posts here, they had less than $500 in each completed fullsize gun!

Even at the price they were selling, it took them about 4 years to sell out. I bought mine for $2800. I am not complaining. I guess they weren't trying to gouge anyone.

When did they go up for sale? Was it 98 or 99? They ran out in Summer 2003.

I paid $2499 for my Vector including shipping to my dealer. At the time, that would have bought me 3 used M11/9s, a Ruger AC556, or a host of other NICE transferable guns. Maybe those were all sold too cheaply as well. It's difficult, if not impossible to judge the market these days. I sold my SWD M11 a little over a year ago for $950. That's what the market price was at that time for that gun in that condition. I just received the approved F4 for the FNC I sold this fall for $5500. At the time, it was top dollar for that gun, but it was in excellent condition. Now the going price seems to be about 7,500 if you can find one. I could have bought a new H&K sear for $5,500 13 months ago, but passed. Not a special deal, just what the going price was at the time. Market conditions change, and sometimes very rapidly.

Hey dustindu4 --- what's up with that goofy picture? It seems kinda like you're making fun of black people. I don't think that should be tolerated here.

No one ever accused dustindu4 of having good taste, but I don't think he's making fun of blacks. It's his "unique" sense of humor.

I think he is also poking fun at all of us fat people. But I don't mind.

The boy in the picture is probably also: gay, impotent, retarded and shoots semi-only.

Did I miss any obvious points of ridicule?

Simple

That was the going rate then. $2500 is still alot of cash to come up with for a firearm. Glad I got mine when I did. From looking at the machine gun price guide it looks like they held the price for uzi's a little flatter than others because of their supply. They held steady while other MG's climber, that is why it seemed like such a good deal. :heavy

If you think about it, it makes perfect sense. They bought a large inventory of a heavily regulated firearm. Everyday those sit in their warehouse they are basically losing money. If they had tried to sell them at $6000, they would have enventually all sold, but it would have cost them more money. They chose to sell them at $2500 - $3000, and look what happened. They sold them all in a relatively short period, and now are considered the premier UZI source. They are selling parts, accessories, and service. AND their other ventures, such as the V-53 rifles, are taking off.

I think they did it right. (and I'm happy I got mine !)

Bought mine for $2800 a bit over a year ago, which I thought was a good deal. Recently, I had to pay $5400 for a NIB
Mini-UZI, but couldn't find one much cheaper and the dealer is very reputable. It's still a good investment.
