What's this about the Vector Feed Ramp?

Hi folks, I'm a newbie to the board and to NFA. (I love this site BTW) I am currently waiting on the Form 3 from an out of state dealer to my local dealer so it will be some time (probably fall) before I see my full-size NIB Vector Uzi - but I can't wait. :D

I have seen remarks on this board and some other places on the web about Vector feed ramps, using semis and something about welding them in place but I haven't found a good description of exactly what the problem is and how it needs to be fixed. Can anyone explain the problem and solution to me? Have there been any other reported problems with the Vector? .:confused

Thanks.

Does the entire SMG have to be sent, or just the portion where the feed ramp is?

rag, the entire gun should be sent to them so they can fire it and make sure it's feeding properly.

Very true, I was just saying the minimum that they would need. Ultimately, that's up to them though. Call and ask before shipping anything less than a complete gun. Karl.

SMG4Me,
I sent one of my Vector FA UZI's back to Vector for another problem and had the standard feed ramp replaced with the semi feed ramp. Mike at Vector said that they did the change initially to improve feeding, and word spread that it allowed hollow points to feed. Maybe so, but Mike said that they did not do it specifically it for hollow points. Call Vector, but they will need the complete gun to test fire to ensure that it feeds correctly after semi ramp is installed.

You should send back your.22 and .45 barrels and bolts.Vector sent me a new .22 barrel that is cut differant for the semi ramp.my full size uzi runs great in all calibers, still prefers winchester xpert .22 hollow pts.

roarincreek,
thanks for the suggestion, but I like to keep my UZI's as Mr. Gal originally designed them: 9mm. I reload 9mm (.45, .40) on a Dillon 650 press, so I always have enough ammo to play.
