I use kerosene or gasoline (outside ONLY!) and a stiff bristled nylon brush.

I've used just about every suggestion made so far, plus cheap carburetor or brake cleaner. They all work pretty well.

I have been diagnosed with a disease called newgunitis. It has progressed into a more advanced stage known as machinegunitis. It is a horrible disease for which there is no cure. If you feed the disease it only gets worse. If you don't feed the disease you will go crazy. On a positive note it is not life threatning.

Hey there Flying Brass!!! "Not life threatning"? Sounds like you are not married!!!!!!!

Yes I am married but my wife doesn't mind too much. I made a deal with her that if she got a new car I got a new mg. Then, she wanted a new house so I got a new mg. You just have to bargain with them.
I figure we would eventually get a new car and house so what did I have to loose.

That's my problem... "The equal spending clause" I should have never agreed to it......

Everything I purchase costs me twice!!:toast

Go to the nearest automotive machine shop. Have them toss in with a block or heads.

Storm Vulcan, Cuda comes to mind. We had a Cuda at the dealership, basically an overgrown dishwasher, used heated water in its tank, mixed w/bio-degradable solvent. Used ours to clean a TAPCO Uzi kit.

Maybe check around some of the dealerships, bribe a tech to put the parts in the wash for you.

Simple Green and some elbow grease will work great on the metal parts. I've done some Mosin Nagants, Mausers, etc. and all have come out very nice.

Get a five gallon bucket and pour in about a gallon of citrus cleaner (you can get this stuff for $7/gallon at Home Depot) and a couple gallons of hot water. Soak everything for 10-15 minutes and all the cosmo comes right off with a toothbrush.

Works well on stocks too.
