Just wondering if anyone knows why Geco ammo disappeared in the United States. I picked up 10k rounds at the Creek in 2019, I never had a single issue with the ammo and it was beautiful. I can't find any information as to why it has all disappeared.

They were bought, I think by Ruag.
I think most of the European ammo makers are now owned by one company.

Below is a picture of a box of mine. Black and blue:
I have some boxes that look identical but on the back some say made in Germany and some say made in Switzerland

The ammo is nice but I don't find myself longing for more of it. I think I have the same levels of reliability out of other factory loads but I don't even bother shooting much factory. 99% of my shooting is my reloads. The nice thing about reloads is that as long as I can get the components, I don't worry about some loading not being available anymore.

GECO is still around. They are RUAG's budget line before NORMA ( formerly RUAG, Now Beretta I believe) began focusing on pistol ammo.
It is fantastic ammo, very accurate and the material and tolerances are great. Most GECO pistol ammo is made in either Hungary or Furth, Germany. When you find it now it will be in all white boxes with black lettering.

I bought it in the white and black box, but I can't find anyone selling it now.

No. You are correct. It was originally loaded in Switzerland & Germany as you see on the old blue and black boxes. Later on it was outsourced to the Matra Metalworks in Sirok, Hungary.

It later appeared in red and black boxes, now it is in all white boxes. The box redesign seems to have occurred right before Beretta Holdings purchased RUAG in 2022. It is not very common anymore, but I bought quite a bit from Target Sports USA.

After doing some research and evaluating some ammo samples I realized that Target Sports USA's "New Republic" line of ammo is also made in Sirok, Hungary. Hungary has very few ammunition/ small arms manufacturers, and the largest was the former state factory in Sirok which is Matra Metalworks (Mátravidéki Fémművek, Sirok).

New Republic ammo is made in Sirok, Hungary at MFS, likely on the same tooling as GECO. I have examined the headstamp text, primer and case construction and the two brands are nearly identical. In talking to Ammotec, they do outsource components from different places and I think GECO is a cut above New Republic.

I've shot over 6k New Republic 9mm 124 gr. and 115 gr. as well as their .380 ACP. No issues, reliable and fairly accurate. Not quite as clean as GECO, but acceptable and superior to most American manufacturers.

TL;DR: New Republic ammo is largely the same as GECO.
