What is the usual wait time these days to get the stamp? Last time I purchased a NFA item in June 2016 and did not get the paperwork and stamp until Dec 2018. I had heard the process is much quicker now? Please and thanks

My last set to come in took 13-14 months- a pair together then #3 about three weeks later.

we have 41 cans in processing right now, so we watch this pretty close, there is no rhyme or reason, some are 7.5 months, some are still 9-10 months, but we are still dealing with the fall out from the Gov shutdown earlier this year ....I have one guy at 18 months. quickest Ive seen has been 5 months, and one even faster but he took advantage of the Military with orders quick skip the line

My buddy just got his at 9 months; therefore, I called atf today and the lady said something like it appears there’s a question on the make or model and maybe an error letter was sent out. I purchased an M11/9 SWD, lol. She forwarded me to the examiner who natural is on vacation until the 11th per her voicemail. The gentleman I purchased it from said he has NOT got an error letter. So who knows.

Like previously stated there is no rhyme or reason to the approval times. You might get lucky and you might not with an early approval.

I did a form 1 SBR Efile on 7 guns between March and July this year, not one took longer than 25 days.

I just got cleared for my MK760.

Exactly 330 days from receipt to approval for an Individual F4. To add insult to injury, it took 13 days for the dealer to receive the stamp.

my latest took 12 months- trust form 4

looks like the times are on their way back down. Silencer co's july deal last summer made the wait time go up 4-5 months + trumps shut down cost another 1.5 months.

it most likely wont go below 5-6 months as that's where it bottomed out last time.

question: why is that? when I started in the hobby it was 2-3 months 3.5 years ago. are they selling 2x-3x the # of silencers they were back then? or has the process changed and takes longer? less inspectors?....my guess is its by design

100 percent by design

No other paperwork for anything takes a year.

I got into NFA stuff about 8 years ago. It was 12 months then and guys were saying it had been worse in the past. Since then it has varied but not by much. I've never had a form 4 approved as fast as you. I have had a few E-filed form 1's in less than a month.

I believe the process is 100% by design also

they want it to take 6 months...basically its become a waiting period. I regret not getting my dealer license so I could get my guns in a week.

I do think its complete BS that they cant E-file form 4's.

Exactly

If they can get you a e file a form 1 back in a month.... Why can't you get a paper form 4 back in.... Let's say 2 months?

Same background check..... Same everything....

my ruger ac556 was 4 months trust....I correct my statement to 4 months

I have been eyeballing the ac556 pretty hard. I would like to add a 5.56 MG to the stable and they are more in my price range than an M16. What are your thoughts on it. Is it fun to shoot, reliable etc.

I have a feeling the paper forms just take longer to manually process, but why can't they make the form 4 paperless is my question.
