I am considering purchasing one of the semi uzi's.

A friend of mine used to own a model A years ago that I liked shooting really well, but I don't know anything about the newer clones.

So I'm asking if one is inherently better than the other. Or if the vector is worth the extra $250 over the CIA.

I don't mind paying a little more if one is better than the other, but I'm not in the habit of throwing my money at names either.

Another question I have, are either brands using chrome lined barrels? Both parkerized?

Bolt, barrel, extractor better in one or the other?

I'm just looking for an honest comparison between the two.

I know that neither are group industries/imi imports, I just want as close as I can get to the quality and especially reliability of one of the older ones.

Save your money and buy a IMI UZI, if you are looking for quality and reliability, and a better resale value !!

After looking around at some of the various auction sites, I have no desire to spend more for the model a semi auto than I did my registered M10/9.

So, to go back to my original question, between vector and CIA, is one inherently better or worse than the other.

If I could find a model A at a reasonable price, I would consider it, but 2200-3500 is just not gonna happen. That's just brain damaged for a semi auto carbine.

Getting back to your two choices... I've had a Vector full-size, semi, SBR for two years now and have zero issues. I have seen the occasional thread where someone has had a problem, however with their NIB 5-year warranty, I feel "covered" if I do have an issue. The Century ones, really seem to be hit or miss and I seem to read more negative reports than positive on those. I also like the "history" of the original Group Industry receivers the Vectors are built on. That's my personal experience and two cents... between the two I went Vector and have been satisfied. As to your other questions, again able to speak first-hand as to the Vector only... no those barrels are not chrome lined. As to finish, Vector offers three: Parkerized, Painted and Stainless Steel see link = http://www.vectorarms.com/uzi.html

MPA,

I have one of each. (Century and Vector) The Vector is not $250 better than the Century. If I were to buy another, I'd buy a Century. There are many Century haters (many with good reason), but Vectors aren't perfect either...and like we said; $250 difference?

I payed $850 at a gun show for a model B IMI Uzi in good condition, with the black plastic case, sling, dummy barrel, and 4 mags. I guess I got a good deal.

A great deal, if he really want's a real IMI 9mm uzi, he would really do the reseach, I've found a couple of nice in the case uzi for under a $1000.00, it only took me 15 min. to find a couple nice IMI A model 9mm uzi :stick:stick

I've got a Century uzi I bought a couple of years ago. Haven't shot it a lot, but after about 700 rounds so far with various types of ammo I have yet to have any issue. Not many guns I have bought I can say I've put 700 rounds through without have at least one FTF, FTE or FTF, but this one I can. It's exceeded my expectations

The original op came on here asking for advice between 2 guns. You have to immediately say get a IMI. He asked which is better between 2 different makes. The you keep putting the other 2 down in more post. You can't read or listen. He didn't ask about the IMI, all your doing is being a jerk and changing the subject. If this is the way you act, I bet you are a pain in the ass to be around. Go start your own thread to spread your hate.

I have a Vector, I bought new, I have had 0 issues in about 2k rounds. Seems very well made, and worth the $$.

Personally, I'd get the Vector just because Century can screw up just about any firearm you can imagine. Except maybe an AK.

Neither gun (nor the IMI) has a chrome lined barrel. You don't need a chrome lined barrel. Its a semi auto firing pistol bullets. You can't afford to wear the barrel out.

I have a Vector full auto uzi and its had zero issues over the last 12 years.

Like others have said, for a semi auto, the IMI is the best choice. Look around for one. They have good resale value. That's key when buying a semi auto version of a machine gun. It's going to get boring pretty quick and you'll want to sell it.

In the order of parts being made to spec for complete guns.

1) IMI of course, they designed the thing.

2) Vector - most parts are pretty close to factory spec except for maybe the front of the receivers pointing uphill. Nicer finish then IMI.

3) Century - They use some parts that are way out of spec to try to fix problems with other parts that are out of spec. Everyone knows that with anything from Century you have a 50/50 chance of getting a good one. If you get a good one it will last a long time if you get a bad one you got problems.

I agree finishes are a matter of opinion. The only reason I said that is Vector took some extra care grinding the welds on their Uzis. IMI used a heavier grit when they ground their welds. Although I do tend to see more imperfections then most people.
