Hey All,
I have four new Vector .22LR mags. I want to break them down for cleaning but the mag seats appear to have been tack welded. Is this correct? I have even tried a screwdriver and soft mallet but don't want to push my luck if this would damage the mag.

Thanks,
Dan

I'm not sure, but MadMike might be able to shed some light on this one. I thought they all came apart. I swore someone sent me some pics of one dis-assembled. I'll look. Karl.

Full Auto,
here are some pics of my 28 round mags. I have four and none are tack welded. You have to push the pin "in" on the bottom of the floorplate before you can slide it off. Some of them are on extremely tight, but this can be overcome with a little persuasion. Make sure you slide them off in the correct direction.

Those are the mags. I just couldn't remember which were the Vector mags from the name that I saved them under. :rolleyes Karl.

Mine where very tight also, had to do a little file work on the rails so I could get them off without resorting to a hammer every time I clean them, wich is every time they are used. .22 is very dirty and a clean mag is a must with the .22 kit.

All the above posts are correct. You need to push the retaining detent in on the floor plate and slide the base off in the correct direction. I had one or two that were difficult to remove. As Salvo mentioned, these mags need to be disassembled and cleaned with regularity because of the dirty gritty nature of .22 ammo.

Salvo, just when I hit 50 posts, you crack 100. Congrats!

All the above information correct (as usual). Some of the .22 mags bottom plates are stiff. They usually loosen up a little after a while to allow easy removal.

A new Marksman and a new Sharpshooter, congrats to both of you and thanks for the great participation. Karl.

Hey All,
Thanks for the info. It took a little coaxing but the mag seats finally came off. Will more than likely use the dremel to take just a little off the edge for a smooth fit.

Thanks,
Dan
