I am a new member here and just started the paper work for a NIB Vector full size Uzi. I am thinking about buying a couple of caliber conversions while the wait wears on and on and on. The Vector 22 kits look good form my research so far. I have a Ceiner 22 lit for my M16 so I am aware of possibility of the need for "tuning" 22 full auto kits and mags.
How about some feed back from some of you have the Vector 22 kit's. Can they be made to run and does Vector work with you on problems with the kits and mags. If it looks do-able I will see Vector at the Knob Creek Machine Gun shoot, I am only about a 2 hours drive from the shoot.
Thanks.

Do a search on the 22 conversions. There has been a lot of talk about them. I have one and when I got it, It would jam every round. I have got it tweeked out to about 1 jam per mag or less. I haven't messed with it lately since the weather turned cold. But itchin really bad to go out. Maybe this weekend.

They are ammo finicky and what will work in one may not work well in another.

I think they are worth it. Good luck

They are Great!

Have about 2200 through mine now with no cleaning. Seems like
about 2k is the limit on mine, right around there the bolt would fail to pick up a case about every mag.

I have only shot wincheter dynapoints and cci minimags through mine and it loves them both. I would buy as many boxes of different 22 ammo as you can find and see what works best for you. As said above they can be ammo sensitive.

Vectors service is top notch, while mine was in transfer I had my dealer send the gun to vector for them to fit a .22 kit.

In case you can't tell, get a .22 kit!

ranger55, welcome to UZI Talk. Nice to hear we've got another member with an UZI in transfer.

As Brian mentioned, looking through some old posts will give you a lot of info on the .22 kits. The basic summary is this:

- The people that have them, love them.
- They are typically sensitive to different brands of ammo.
- It's very common for them to have to go to Vector for fine tuning. Vector service is great and they will get it running for you.

I shoot Winchester X-pert hollow points in mine.It rarely has a jam.The main thing I found is put no more than 18 rounds in the 20 round mag,and only 25 or 26 in the 28 round mags. Also, get the loader from Joe Black, makes loading the .22 mags a breeze, and if you have kids or know kids will be shooting you'll be loading ALOT of them!! I did not have much luck with the search, I may need to work with it more. Sounds like they can be evrything I had hoped for when using the right ammo, the Ceiner kits in M16's pick there own ammo as well. I just hope it's the same ammo!
Having Vecor tune the kit to my gun while I wait on the transfer sounds like a great idea. I will check into that.
Thanks for the replies guys.

Use the ammo that Vector uses.

Winchester Super X. It will run fine but make sure and get the round nose and not the hollow points. They are called high velocity and come 50 to a box. It is a gray box and less than $2 usually.

Oh I almost forgot.

Vector tuned my kit and sent it to me. All I got is jam after jam. I called and they said "shoot Winchester Super X and it'll solve the problem". That is all it took and now it runs fine.

The .22 kit is a must have in my opinion. I really like mine -- it did take some fitting to get it to run nearly 100%, but now it does as long as I feed it Remington or CCI. It runs fine on the Remington Bulk Golden bullet, Thunderbolt or even the Remington Subsonic. With a suppressor the Remington Subsonic is fun -- and quiet.

The key to my kit was getting the steel insert on the bolt shaved a tiny bit and then a little break-in.

My .22 Vector kit ran from the start. The Ceiner kit had some issues though. If you were able to get your Ceiner kit running and you enjoy shooting it, you will certainly like the UZI .22. I've used Winchester Dynapoints.

Welcome aboard, Ranger55.

I'm still struggling with getting my kit running correctly. Also, each magazine seems to have a problem. I'm going to try the Winchester Super X Round Nose ammo, and if that doesn't work, I'll send the kit to Vector.

Thanks for the input guys, sounds like if I can't make it run Vector will! The ceiner in my m16 is still hit or miss, runs great some days then will need more tuning next time out. If this works out I will likely go to the Uzi for my 22 full auto fix!
