I recently bought a Vector mini Uzi pistol. While I love the way it looks, and the ruggedness of the thing, I hated the trigger.

I saw some posts on this forum about trigger jobs from Bill Springfield and gave him a ring. The quoted price was $39.00 including the return postage.

I got the trigger assembly back today and its a very noticable change. Turn around time was two weeks round trip.

First, the pretravel has been shortened by around 70%. Also, the break is much cleaner. The actual pull of the trigger to make it break is still way up there compared to my Berettas, but its probably 60%-70% of what it was stock.

This experaince just goes to show there are still good deals in the USA

Here is bill's email address

Thanks for the info, Bubba.

Did you just send parts, or the whole lower?

Just curious, because I always wanted to do something with the UZI's trigger, and that sounds like a heck of a deal!

All you need to send is the pistol grip section detached from the receiver and the stricker assembly.

YOu can seee how to shorten the pretravel if you detach the pistol grip lower and watch teh trigger mechnism release. I am not sure what he did to the stricker, but it has som tooling marks on it.

All in all its much better, and I can't wait to shoot it to try it out. Its not a Glockworx drop in trigger by any strech of the imagination, but it beats the standard trigger.

Do you have any pictures of the work that was done?

I liked the results of my mini trigger job so I sent my trigger assembly from my carbine to Bill for a trigger job. When I unwrapped the returned parts I was disappointed as it looked like not a thing had been done.

I slapped it on the lower and racked it...and pulled the trigger...very little if any pretravel and a nice crisp break around 5 pounds...amazing.

I highly recommend this, while its not like a RRA 2 stage match trigger it is way better than my HK USC triggers...

Makes the Uzi a very accurate short range gun in the right hands.

Bill did a great job on my HK91 trigger a few years back. All I had to send him was the trigger pack and selector and got it back in a week or so. Highly recommended.

Bill Springfield is the man when it comes to trigger work. His prices are so reasonable, and turn around quick enough that theres no point in a DIY trigger job.

Big +1 to Bill.

Why would you bump this thread?

Since Bill is in Colorado, and posts on other boards under his name, I doubt they are the same person. Maybe he bumped the thread, because he is the original poster and really liked the work done for the price? What does it matter to you?

Ah the Internet. Ask a guy a question and get an unsolicited answer from the peanut gallery.

Peanut gallery? I'm just another satisfied Bill Springfiled customer, but I better not sing his praises too loudly or you will accuse me of being him also and bump this thread needlessly.....

In fact, am I allowed to bump this thread since I am satisfied Bill Springfield customer, under your rulebook, Mr Javelina?

One more thumbs up for Bill Springfield.

I sent my Russian SKS trigger pack to Bill Springfield after first calling him and discussing the work to be done. With the high price of .308 and .30-06 ammo, many locals have been using the lowly SKS in our monthly ViMSAR matches, (Vintage Semi Automatic Rifle), with shockingly good results. I thought I'd join the club and I'm very pleased with the results of his trigger job. The long gritty creep is all but gone and I'm guessing it breaks at less than five pounds... not bad for this type of rifle. I recently acquired several hundred rounds of LC .308 for a song, so I'll be sending Bill my FAL lower with a TERRIBLE trigger for his work based on the SKS he did for me.

If there's any thing negative I have to say about my experience with Bill, it was the almost three week turn-around time after he quoted me ten days door to door over the phone. Considering the price, I can easily live with that short coming.

ViMSAR (Vintage Military Semi Auto Rifle)

THE HISTORY BEHIND THESE EVENTS

The development and use of the military bolt action rifles using metallic cartridges spans from circa mid eighteen sixties to 1936 when the last newly developed military bolt action rifle was adopted. During this time many guns were produced to supply the armies of the world. Of course, these guns provided excellent service in WWII and long after. The idea of shooting ViMBAR is to experience the capabilities these old military rifles had on the battlefield. Some were better then the others, but most had capabilities that are amazing still today.

Vintage Military Bolt-action Rifle (ViMBAR) and Vintage Military Semi-auto Rifle (ViMSAR) are concepts that were developed so that collectors of the myriad of inexpensive military surplus rifles available today can have an opportunity to use them in a fun shooting match environment. You can go out and buy a $100 surplus Mauser, some inexpensive surplus ammunition, and be “in the game” and as competitive as the next guy. The idea behind the ViMBAR/ViMSAR match is to experience the capabilities these rifles had on the battlefield, and the service they provided to soldiers all over the world in conflicts spanning the past century and a quarter. ViMBAR/ViMSAR matches are not intended to be “precision accuracy” or High Power Service Rifle competitions. On the contrary, we encourage the use of life-size or large targets, and specifically prohibit the use on the line of High Power equipment, range finders, wind flags, or other such items as deemed “prohibited” by the match designers. In that vein, we often invoke “Spirit of the Game”, the original adage of the ever popular Cowboy Action Shooting™ game.

This forum is devoted to distributing information about ViMBAR/ViMSAR shooting matches. Our match schedule information primarily concerns the ViMBAR/ViMSAR matches held at Desert Sportsman Rifle & Pistol Club in Las Vegas, NV, however, we will list matches elsewhere if the information is emailed to us in advance of the event.

DATES, TIMES, COST

ViMSAR matches held on the 3rd Saturday of each month at Desert Sportsman Rifle & Pistol Club. http://www.dsrpc.net/
We start setting up the COF at 800AM with the walk through and match beginning promptly at 9:00AM. Expect to be finished no later than 1:00PM. During the summer, the matches begin at 8:00AM to escape the mid-day heat.

Cost is just five dollars for members and six dollars for non-members. First time shooters are FREE!

To give a quick summary:

Any military issued semi automatic rifle is allowed in ViMSAR, up to but not including the M-16/AR-15.
The rifle has to be in AS-ISSUED condition. So, no aftermarket sights, no laminated or composite stocks (unless original), no glass bedding and no match triggers.
No National Match parts on M-1's or M-1A's. Bi-pods are allowed if they were original equipment on that particular rifle. We're just trying to keep an even playing field here, and don't want it to become an equipment race.

We generally include a hand gun on one stage, and encourage shooters to bring their own, though we usually have a loner available. Same rules apply to the hand gun - as issued.
If you compete in uniform, you get a one point bonus, and if you shoot the whole match with your bayonet attached in the pointy position, you get a three point bonus.
We also have a grenade or bayonet throw on one of the stages.

if you have any specific questions, please don't hesitate to contact me,

English Andy - ViMSAR Assistant Match Director
