Ok i have a vary early UZI mod A conversion that is a registered receiver gun but it still has the slotted bolt. It was manufactured by phenix armory out of Huston Texas. My question has to do with wear on the receiver it looks like the bold is digging a hole i the receiver a little not major issue runs fine just want to know if this is normal will post pictures later.

I've never heard of any significant chronic receiver damage of that sort occurring. Pics would be best though.

Hi,

Not so normal. Bolt will put some shine on a high spot. Check the bolt for burrs especailly around the sear surfaces. Be careful not to damage the sear surface on the bolt when cleaning up any burrs you find. I'd suggest a quality hard stone.

Good luck,

K2

I remember Ralph at Vector telling me years ago that they had seen Israeli surplus guns that had significant wear on the bottom of the receivers where the bolt rides. I think it takes a lot of rounds with little lubrication for it to happen. I always run a line of oil down each side of the receiver where the bolt runs before I use the gun. Keep yours lubricated and keep shooting it. If it ever gets so bad that it interferes with the functionality, you can get the bottom of the receiver welded up.

...a handful of fine sand speeds the process along.

Remember the UT shoot in 2005 when the Godfather brought out the rental UZI with 3 million documented rounds? The receiver has been welded up in numerous places including the bottom of the receiver where the the bolt rides. Having seen the stack of broken and worn out bolts from that gun, I’d be more concerned about the slotted bolt wearing out than receiver wear.

I’m with Dave. A ribbon of Mobil One on the bolt wear points and you’re GTG.
