I tested two of these Screws from DS Arms, and one from my original Isreali kit. All sort of matched up to Metric - M5 x 0.8 and Standard 10 -32 however, neither was a great fit, or screws wouldn't go all the way in.
Hoping someone can chime in on this. I'd pick some up off McMaster Carr if we can figure it out. Seems like a strange thread, course but between those two measurements?
Thank you! This is what AI gave me based on your findings.
M5 x 0.8 Screw Match
The British Standard Whitworth (BSW) screw that most closely matches an M5 x 0.8 mm metric screw is a 3/16" BSW screw. This is based on the close similarity in their major diameters and pitches, making them nearly interchangeable in many practical applications. The M5 x 0.8 mm screw has a major diameter of 5.0 mm (approximately 0.197 inches) and a pitch of 0.8 mm, while the 3/16" BSW screw has a major diameter of approximately 0.196 inches and a pitch of 0.8 mm, which is very close to the metric thread's pitch.
BSW Screw 10-32 Match
The British Standard Whitworth (BSW) screw that most closely matches a standard 10-32 UNC screw is the 10-24 BSW. While the thread pitch differs (10-32 has 32 threads per inch, while 10-24 has 24 threads per inch), the 10-24 BSW is the closest in nominal size and thread form to the 10-32 UNC thread. It is important to note that although the thread pitches are different, the 10-24 BSW and 10-32 UNC threads are often considered compatible for practical purposes due to similar nominal diameters and the fact that the thread forms, while different (55 degrees for BSW vs. 60 degrees for UNC), can still mate satisfactorily in many applications.
