Well after owning my Vector SMG for a couple years I decided it was time to do some 'upgrades'
1st I occassionally use this gun in SMG competitions and the stock sights kinda suck when compared to the new electronic dot sights. So I had Robert (Amphibian) install one of his sight bases on a spare topcover for me. On it I mounted a 7.0MOA Docter red dot sight that I got from Botach I then drilled out the 200M peep on a spare sight so I had a clearer field of vision. This set up is pretty slick and much faster than the irons. I'll post some pictures later.
Next I sent the gun off to Vector to get the semi feed ramp installed. I shoot a lot of hollowpoints through this gun and while I haven't noticed any problems with the SMG ramp in 9MM, I figure it can't hurt. The main reason I had it done is the next thing I did.
I have wanted a small 45ACP SMG for some time, something that was reliable and easy to suppress. I already have a Thompson M1A1 but it would be hard to suppress and already it is pretty heavy. I thought about a Stemple or Grease Gun but decided the UZI would make the best 45ACP SMG, especially to suppress. So I bought the 45ACP kit from Vector.
Well 16rd SMG magazines are stupid. Takes what? Two seconds to empty the magazine. Well I fixed that by ordering a converted 45ACP lower from Chris, I hear it's pretty slick. Now I'll have 30 or 50rd magazines available. I have had some feeding issues with my Federal HP 45ACP ammunition, hopefully the semi feed ramp installed by Vector will fix this Problem.
Next I ordered a custom UZI can from Mark McWillis of TROS He is making the Baracuda in 45ACP for me to use with a 8.5" barrel. I'm having him cut down both my 9MM and 45ACP barrels so I can use the shorter 10.5" can. Obviously with this one can I'll be able to shoot both 45ACP and 9mm, with only a small reduction in suppression while using the 9mm vs a dedicated can.
When everything comes together I hope to have a silent, lead spitting, buzzsaw of destruction in my hands! :uzi
Should be able to knock that steel down with more authority and kick the dirt even higher into the air!
