I acquired this dust cover as part of a parts lot but can't seem to identify the purpose of the modification that was done to it. Well the top part I think is prepared to be drilled and tapped for a rail. At first it looks like R series due to the incomplete rear sight features but the spot welding looks Galil and a two step tong was used. A long bead of weld is on the underside and machined to clean up just like factory. The ejection port was lengthened to 1.3" longer and cut roughly at a 45* angle. Maybe clearance for a larger caliber? A piece is also added at the back for support I guess? What intrigues the most is the lack of crease that runs from the gas tube end to the ejection port. It wasn't removed/cut, in fact it's actually wider than an R series I guess due to the lack of crease. Also the downward clearance cut is different. Maybe someone can shed light on this mystery dust cover?

I doubt it. The sheet metal used is heavy gauge and well built identical to factory R series cover. Here's how it's mounted on my AA372. Fit is tight and solid.

Looks like the ejection port side was cut to fit a Valmet type case deflector.

Valmet case deflectors are straight on the back side. It won't fit right if installed on this cover cause there's not much surface to hold on to.

Nobelteque made some lm series models over there..maybe this is one of theirs?
They do but they are identical to the R series dust covers. I haven't seen anything like this without the crease that runs from the tip to the end of the ejection port. Also that downward cut on the same side instead of angled.
