I'm going to ask what I realize is a VERY subjective question, but...here it is, I would appreciate a general opinion about who is considered to be the best SWD M-11 9mm gunsmith currently available, I see some M-11 competition's in the next year for myself and I'm looking to get as much of an edge (equipment wise) as I possibly can.

The work I would be looking to have done would be to take a totally stock select fire, SWD M-11 (not new but in very good condition) and make whatever upgrades and modifications would be needed to produce the most RELIABLE platform possible, to include magazine tune-ups of several PAM steel mags and welding a small section of picatinny rail on the top for sight/laser use.

I would also appreciate opinions and suggestions as to the types of services and parts replacements recommended for this SWD M-11 makeover.

Thanks guys.

PS: If you don't feel comfortable posting in open forum your opinion for whatever reason please private message me if you feel so inclined.

I don't do events, but it seems from this forum that the "stock" m11/nine fires way to fast and too much muzzle rise for you to win these events.

Most have opted for the max-11 upper or the max-31 upper, now in lighter weight Mk2 flavors, often beating out mp5s.

LAWBOB, I understand and fully agree with your comment/opinion of the M-11 (bullet hose) having an insanely high ROF, thereby making it normally unusable for the "usual" national level and local competitions however, myself and a few friends and coworkers will be setting up a local "friendly" select fire competition.

The course of fire will be several CQB setups (think funhouse) were a high ROF and a good trigger technique/control could be beneficial for placing the max number of hits on the targets in the shortest time possible (at least that's the plan).

We look for this to be a local "fun run" among friends, I also look at it as an opportunity to use the events as a test bed for new ideas and equipment for our hobby (now that ammo is affordable again).

You have it easy.no gunsmith needed.----Just go buy a max31mk2 ,a variable speed buffer,a lage stock, full auto only, lage competition trigger, lage extended safety. Some Soumi drums from vegas smg ,bushnell trs-25 red dot.you may need a riser for the red dot,and you are good to go!!!!

Rich, while I agree Richard has the best gear going on the market for our hobby (plus the best customer service I seen ...EVER) I'm still looking for the most reliable stock SWD M-11 that I can run. Thanks for the parts list though, it will be most helpful.

Ok, but if you make upgrades and modifications to a stock M11, it won't be stock anymore. :)

If I were to do something like this, I would go with the following:

All Zmags or Suomi DF conversion
Lage select fire competition trigger
Lage extended safety and new internal safety
Lage hardened sear
A threaded barrel with a Carlson Compensator (and a custom collar to make the barrel look better)
mini Uzi folding stock -or- Lage collapsible stock

If you're going to be using the selector, you'll want to spend a lot of fine playing with the operation in semi-auto. Semi auto operation will be it's downfall.

You won't need a gunsmith for any of this either. Just time and ammo.

^ Medphys nailed it. For a mostly stock setup, quality mags, a good, solid stock, and the Lage trigger will go a long, long way towards accomplishing what you're looking for... Reliability and a solid platform. Also use quality factory ammo over gun show reloads. It's not one single thing, but lots of little things that add up.

It'll cost plenty to shoot enough rounds through your current mags to ensure 100% functioning. I'd number all my existing mags and note which ones are 100% and which are problematic.
