Anybody shooting the 9mm Tulammo steel case ammo?
Any issues?
I'm thinking about using it for competition.

Works great in everything I have except for my Sig p220.

It's almost like the .45 is slightly longer than "regular" .45? I've never bothered to measure it.

I have ran Tula, Wolf, and Federal Aluminum 9mm in my Norinco's and McKay, Uzi's with no problems. I polished the feed ramps and the 1st 1/2 of the chamber also, I also got rid of a sharp edge of a GM barrel face also. Both guns are 100% reliable.

I just finished a carton of 1,000 rounds through my Vector with no problems. I prefer Wolf, but the Tula was available at a great price last year so I picked up some to try it out.

Typical Russian ammo. Stinky, dirty, but goes bang every time.

It runs fine in my DLO RR UZI, MP5SD, MP5K, and S&W 76. Just dirty but what can you expect for that cheap of blaster ammo?

Runs fine on my various subguns. Dirty as others have mentioned.

I have fired over 20,000 rounds of Wolf through my firearms, much of it in subguns and my M16, and have found it to be a great value. The one time I had a significant problem was extracting the old lacquer coated ammo from an AR-15 about 8 years ago. When I called them, they promptly sent a shipping label for me to return the ammo, and replaced it with ammo that worked flawlessly. The only other problem I've had with Wolf has been a dead primer (round doesn't ignite with a solid strike to the primer). I experience this about every 1,000 rounds. Not really a problem for me, since I only use it for cheap practice ammo. A couple years ago, I had several rounds of Tula 7.62x39 fail to ignite the powder. The primers went off, but the bullets stopped at the entrance of the chamber of my Russian SKS. When I ejected the cartridgse, the powder was clumped up and unburned in the case. I didn't reach out to Tulammo about it, but didn't buy any more until the case of 9mm that just worked fine for me. Since the price between Tulammo and Wolf is usually pretty close, and I've had such good luck with Wolf, I generally buy it when it's available for practice ammo.

if its a SA i get it...use cheap stuff, who cares

if its FA i think its being overly cheap.....you can get 9mm brass case/fiochi or similar brand for $210 a case....saving $50 to get steel case that has issues? why ?

i use wolf gold for .223 and any lower priced brands(brass case) for 9mm/45 in my FA's......there are reviews on the steel case showing how it wears down AR barrels significantly faster than brass case....but some argue who cares, ill just keep swapping barrels....

to each his own

1: Steel case is fine.
2: The bi-metal jacket is just as soft as copper.
3: In rifle cabers the barrel wear is negligible and the cost savings actually equates to more shooting for the same price. In pistol calibers barrel wear is non-existent.
4: Semi or full auto, doesn't matter.
5: If you think you're treating your expensive guns better by feeding them more expensive ammo, then more power to you.
6: Steel case is fine.

Agree with DistalRadius. All points factual, but especially 4 and 5. I would add a couple:

7: Steel empties can be picked up with a magnet.
8: Steel case is fine.

Have two FS Uzi Reg Receivers and the various brands/weights of steel cased stuff have been more reliable than brass. Something between 20 and 25 cases through the guns to date. Wolf, Ulyanovsk, Bear(s), Tula, Novobirsk, eieio. My favorite is the 124 gr Wolf.

Run the stuff through my G19, too.

My experience

I must be in the minority. My Vector F/A Mini Uzi doesn't like steel case much, tends to cause problems stripping off the first few rounds. Never had that problem with brass. Once it gets running, it works OK.

I've shot a lot of the Tula 9mm stuff both in my Uzis and Lage stuff. It has worked very well. I've had no problems using it in Uzi mags. There are some issues using the steel cases in some of the M-11/9 mags because of the greater friction of the steel cases.

I've bought a bunch because it used to be the cheapest 9mm stuff at Walmart. It hasn't been the cheapest for a while now that Winchester USA Forged (also steel cased) came out. Lately, it has been $10.97 per 50 rounds but some of the brass stuff has been about $9.97 at Walmart (I'm thinking Perfecta and Federal).

It doesn't seem worth it to me to save $5 to shoot that economy ammo.

I can buy Speer Lawman American made ammo for $22 / 100.

The empty brass is worth about $50 per 1000 so you're not really saving any money with the steel case anyway.

The biggest concern I would have is blowing my SMG up with a squib round.
