Tritium inserts

Does anyone know where I can get tritium inserts for my Golani? How much they cost and how hard to install? Since they are radioactive what are the regulator hurdles to be overcome?

As much as I love my Galils, I've always found the night sight inserts pretty useless.

Yeah, most sets of Tritium sights that you find on the surplus market are shot (Tritium degrades over time, and is usually only good for about ten years or so - max).

That being said - I saw a couple of sets at the Miami Gunshow that were relatively new production, and they glowed just like a new set of Trijicons or Meprolights....but they were asking over $250 a set.... uke

Might have to do a little machining to make them work. But, they are fresh and bright plus, your choice of colors. If you need the expired sights, SARCO has them for about $6. YMMV

You can drill out the old inserts in your night sights; then epoxy new, better low cost inserts in place:

My problem is even if I could see my night sights I couldn't see my target. I need one of those PVS-14 thingamabobs. And a suppressor.

I faintly remember someone found Green Glow-in-the-dark paint which they just added to the insert holes and they claimed it worked pretty well. But i guess that's if you don't live in Alaska going months without sunlight... in which case the tritium may be a better idea eep
