Tell your buddy to call Bill Springfield. He recently tuned another member's trigger and supposedly it came out great.

I'd be cautions with modifying a trigger/pack that is currently not replaceable. Any muff ups and you are screwed!

I have heard lots of complaints about triggers on S&W 76 style guns being awful. Are these Burgess or MKs or actual S&Ws? The trigger on my S&W is really nice, I haven't measured it for weight but it's easier to operate than my Thompson.

My S&W trigger is beyond bad.My local gunsmith said because of the geometry of the sear on the bolt their is no way to improve the trigger.

As bad as the S&W is, the Stemple is worse.
I'd strongly suggest reading all the reviews on Bill Springfield before you send him anything.
