Hello everyone!
Long time member but first time posting. I'm seeing semi FNC's going for around 4-5k and full autos around 17 to 20k. I've searched different auction sites looking for a transferable sear with no success. My question is if one ran across a sear, what do y'all think it would be worth? Thanks for your time and input!

Usually, in the past, take the price of the complete MG and deduct the price of the host rifle. That will give you an idea of the sear price.

I have not seen an FNC sear come up for sale in a very, very long time.
Many years ago a gent had a handful for sale, and I turned a friend of mine onto one.
He still has not had it installed into his FNC, but isn't interested in selling it either.

Last I heard the number of autosears registered exceeded the number of rifles imported. Prices remained relatively low.

When the SCAR came out it was discovered the sear could be used in it but ATF back then ruled that a sear had to be used in the same "family" of guns and the SCAR was not developed from the FNC. IIRC, prices jumped until the ruling came down.

I suspect more than a few people grabbed one up and are hanging onto them in case ATF ever changes their mind.

UM, nope. That is Internet lore.

Reality: 7000 FNCs imported, 6000 folding stock, 3500 S&H sears. 3500 sears is based on two facts: one, that's the highest serial number noted by major NFA dealers. Two: Curtis of S&H was asked about the number of sears made back in the day and he said yes, about 3500.

My sear serial number is 100 higher than your amount of sears

It is (I think) very much true that there are still many uninstalled sears, but it is also very much true that they are not currently for sale. It may be true that there are not more sears than semi hosts. I’m not privy to any actual numbers. My advice to anyone that has a semi and wants a full auto: I’d recommend buying a gun that that has already been converted…preferably one converted by Curtis Higgins. Also please buy a spare bolt from Navgunner and extra firing pins from Custom Instruments Tactical.

oh and edited to add: keep your semi too!

Ok, so big fuckin deal 3600. That's still around the amount Curtis from S&H said, plus he never gave an exact number. If there are twice as many as the Internet asshats claim, then where are the sears with serial numbered between 3700 and approx 7200+? Even long time, major NFA dealers have never seen serial numbers in that supposed upper range. Besides this issue has been discussed many times over in the last fifteen years and nobody has come up with any proof of serial numbers in the mythical upper range.

How many FNC sears fit in a large coffee can? How many in the known serial number range have been accounted for? Should we be adding or subtracting here? Those are interesting questions to ponder…

Shit, I remember when they were going for $600 each year. I could kick myself in the ass for not buying a few of them.

LOL, little high strung?
I also bought a second semi gun as a parts gun if needed.
Does that set you off too?

Sears for the Fnc jumped up a good chunk like everything else. I think they jumped a bit more because of the Pindad import that were promised. It’s obvious that they’re NOT going to import those.
The Fnc problem is parts are none existent and I wouldn’t buy one just because of that. If it was a good price, I’d buy one and flip it.

Parts are available albeit expensive due to the relatively low number of guns and manufactured. @fuatos is a wonderful person and is happy to help w/ anyone’s FNC parts needs.

I too doubt if Pindad will ever get their SS1 imported into the US.

i second navgunners sentiments about fuatos- he is a great guy - I have a nice collection of spare parts…some I bought from him…just looking at my pile of spare parts makes me happy! Everyone please buy spare parts and don’t miss out on navgunner’s bolts- if you miss your chance to get a spare bolt now you might never get another chance. Don’t wait!

Any recommendations? I have a few springs, firing pin, recoil assembly back plate, bolt from navgunner (looks great! Hope I never have to use it 😂), just curious what else might be worthwhile.
