Sent payment off on a NIB Vector Uzi. I'm buying it from one of our board memebers, UZIonU.

Never thought I would want to own a Title II weapon but after shooting a friend's Uzi, I was hooked. It still a very daunting process but with the help of my old friends here in North Texas and my new friends here on the board, all will be fine in the end.

By nature, I'm not a very patient person but I know that I'm looking at 4 to 6 months. Plenty of time to think about all the cool accessories I can buy in anticipation of "The Day".

My only worry is that I'm starting to think about a M-16...

Thanks for all your help and advice!

kyle, it's nice to hear that you took the big step. The first title II weapon is always a mixture of anticipation and uncertainty. You need to find a way not to dwell on the waiting or it will drive you crazy. Buying accessories may help, or it might make you more anxious. But it is fun! I'm not a very patient person either but somehow we all survive. The bulk of the waiting isn't that bad. What gets really bad is if you convince yourself that it should be back around a certain date and then the date comes and goes. That will drive you nuts. Just remember that every form seems to have a life of its own and you can't predict when it will come back.

The reward is great though and yes, you will want more!!!

Congratulations Kyle, you won't be sorry!

I'm a little confused though when you say "Never thought I would want to own a Title II weapon." Doesn't every little boy grow up into a larger little boy all the while wanting a C3?

Kyle -

Welcome to the UZI club. I live here in North Texas as well. Drop me a PM if you want to get together sometime and shoot. I got my Vector about a month and a half ago.

If you are not aware there is a

North Texas
Submachinegun Match
Where: Magnum Shooting Range
4934 Duck Creek Rd
Sanger, TX 76266
(940)458-7000

on Saturday the 13th. I am going to be out of town, however, I hope it continues as I really want to get to know more SMG owners here in N. Texas. You can find out more about the SMG match under the Gun Shows and Events section of this forum.

Looking back on my wait, in retrospect it was not too bad.

I guess what I meant was that I didn't want to go through all the hassle and paperwork. I also sort of had the paronia that full auto was only for "bangers" and drug dealers. "Nice" people didn't own full auto weapons and I was afraid to ask for permission from the CLEO to own one. I know it's silly but that's how I felt.

Maybe that's how the system is suppossed to work. Only those who are determined to "fight" for what they want get to enjoy the "privilege". In truth, unless we have misbehaved, it's a right, not a privilege.

But we all know that's another topic all its own.

Congratulations! My first title II was a Vector Uzi -- a number of years ago! I remember the wait -- mine was a bit longer than the norm -- it took 6 months! The approval of the form 3 (to get to my dealer) took over 2 months and the rest, as they say, is history. I distinctly remember the first time out with it -- fear that it wouldn't run right (it did fine) and the excitement of a 32 round mag dump. What I did to pass the time, was explore other title II -- and so by the time the Uzi finally made it to me I also had a suppressor in transfer. Regarding your thinking about a M-16 -- my dealer told me the night I picked up the Uzi -- Machine guns are like potato chips -- you can't have just one. He was right.:cool

Kyle -- I've not regretted buying an uzi for one second. Legal machine guns are for law biding citizens. Mobsters and gang bangers skip the formalities and obtain them illegally. Your Sheriff knows this.

I hate to rain on your parade, but you'll be doing well to get it within 6 months unless you already have it on a form 3 in Texas. In that case, the wait will be considerably longer. It took me 14 months to get mine, but a lot of that was due to an incompetent person named Keith Barlow at Gulf Coast Armory. Price was good, service was not. I hope you're not going through him for the transfer (he's in TX).

The waiting does allow plenty of time to buy accessories. You'll need mags ... lots of mags. The 25-rounders are cheap and worth having in quantity. The 32-rounders are more expensive, but you have to have them. Vector has the best deal I know of (they're Croatian mag puches for $15 are a great deal as well). Then you need a .45 conversion kit, grease gun converted lower, grease gun mags, a parts kit, a few thousand rounds of ammo .....

14 months, OMG!!! I would have had a coronary.

The gun is currently on a Form 3 in Louisiana. I'm not using Gulf Coast Armory but I am familiar with them. Always thought they were one of the good guys. I'm in North Texas and I'm using S&S Firearms out of Fort Worth. Steve is a good guy and I'm lucky to have him helping me.

Tack on an extra 2 to 4 weeks on MGs coming out of Louisiana. I bought my Vector from a dealer there and, after BATF approved the Form 3 to my dealer in FL, the Louisiana State Police still had to investigate and sign off on the dealer-to-dealer transfer! I couldn't believe it.

Anyway, congrats on the new purchase. You'll love it! :D

That's right. The selling dealer, Jeremy Morrow dba To-Morrow's Weapons advised me that Lousisiana does have some special laws concerning transfers. Oh well.

What PMF said.

It took me 14 months when mine came out of Texas. People around here sure as hell made fun of me. But, I got the gun and it was worth it. :heavy

Wow! I got my Vector from Jeremy, too! Great deal, great service. (And I bought an M11/9 from Keith Barlow that also took the slow boat from Texas...)

Funny how much we all have in common. :D

I'm at 17 months and counting. Funny thing is my Vector was my first NFA purchase. I have bought and sold two other MG's since and I still haven't taken possession. Some day my boat will come in. It's a long story, and I am partially to blame. Mine comes with a coastal can too. Congratulations. If you make it down to Houston we’ll have to go shooting.
