Hi to all. I have an action alarms IMI brand new mini UZI in the box with all the goodies and the cardboard sleeve never fired. Oh yeah it’s also serial number 4. Yes number 4 off the line. I had it SBR 5 years ago with the intentions on shooting it but I just couldn’t bring myself to do it. I even found an original mini UZI barrel on Gunbroker and had it cut down to fit in my AWC MK9 suppressor. I have a full size full auto UZI that I shoot quite often but lately I’ve been getting the itch when I take it out of the safe. Now I’m asking myself what the hell am I saving it for. There is my dilemma. Help:)

I make it a policy to never tell another man what he should do with his gun.

If you've been saving it for an "investment", the bottom has dropped out of the market. Even transferable FA prices have been coming down. Some due to demand, some due to not wanting to wait for a year + on transfers, but that's the way it goes.

Prices will eventually go back up. And down again too. That's just how the market goes.

I'd sell it, if you could get comfortably more than lighly-used examples go for. If that's possible, no sense leaving $1K or whatever on the table. I've done this with other stuff--find some collector out there who wants to pay a premium for collector grade, then pocket the money and get a replacement cheap on sale.

Way freakin' too close to the city....especially n
I bought a pristine NIB IMI Model A years ago but when I rec'd it I just couldn't shoot it because it was unfired and it seemed to be terrible to take its pristineness away. I kept it that way for two years (thought about buying a Vector to shoot during that time but didn't) until I thought "It is a damn gun and was meant to be shot" SO, I DID! It was fun and I am real careful not to eff up the finish but I shot it. I also bought a NIB 9mm conversion kit from RD and used that barrel to fire so I couldn't mess up the serialized barrel! It is damn near as nice as it was when I bought it and could bring close to what it would have if it were still NIB! So, in my opinion shoot it! But then, that is up to you and your final decision.

Or rid yourself of the issue and sell it to me for $1,200.00 LOL!! My wife loves to shoot the Model A but complains it's too heavy and the Mini UZI would cure that problem all together!

Good luck with whatever you decide,

Mike, as sexy as the Mini Uzi is, if you have a full auto UZI SMG the semi-auto Mini UZI isn't going to be that much fun for you to shoot. That said, if you have a mind to shoot it, it's hard to let the idea go. I have a like new IMI Mini UZI with an ordinary serial number. If it makes you feel any better we could work a trade before you take it to the range. #4 deserves to be left unfired!

so if you engraved your trust or personal info on the gun as its required, just shoot the hell out of it, you've killed most of its pristine value

Good advice. If I decide to do anything with it I will P.M.
You.
Thanks

Buy a registered mini bolt and then shoot it.

You only live once! Why leave it to someone else after your gone who WILL shoot it? I had acquired an unissued Colt 1911A1 US property back in the early 80s. all my friends told me I should put it away and not fire it.Well not wanting to leave it for my heirs to abuse I shot the living hell out of it and still do to this day.ymmv

I agree with you. Unless it is some super collectible piece it just means that "someone" down the line will get a nice condition weapon and enjoy what you didn't. Seriously- getting a few hundred dollars more is not worth it. They were made to shoot and enjoy.

Now if you are not a shooter and just a collector, then that is different. There is no "enjoyment" to have been missed.

Its number 4, unfired NIB. That says it all. Put it back away and shoot your FA to satisfy your needs

Shoot it. You've already altered it by SBR'ing it. Sure, the barrel can be swapped, but you've engraved your info on the gun. It's only original and pristine one time, and that ended when you put your info on it.

It's still engraved on the original barrel.

Any barrel other than original, may as well be engraved on the receiver anyway. I don't see any difference between engraving on one than the other.

The original barrel with the serial numbers on it is packed away in the box. I found an original IMI mini UZI barrel on Gunbroker and had it cut down and had my info engraved on it after I SBR it. There’s no way I would’ve touched that barrel.

In that case, from a collector standpoint, that was good planning.
