Maybe I’m late to this thread but does everyone realize this is not a SS for an m11/9 yet? That’s a 3d printed “MAC DADDY” build, it’s not really an M11/9… more like an AR-15 that uses an M11/9 upper. The only reason this is possible with this platform is because it utilizes an AR-15 FCG… doubt this would be possible with a REAL m11/9 semi auto but correct me if I’m wrong

Yep. The only similarity between the Mac Daddy and an actual MAC is the name, and the upper. Which I'm not sure how many similarities the upper actually has either. As far as I know, there are currently no FRT designs for any striker fired guns. Other then the glock stuff.

I would respectfully ask anyone who thinks that a Super Safety is a "gimmick" trigger to try one. It shocks me when MG owners, firearm snobs, especially gun club owners, gun club management, event organizers, 2A enthusiast and dealers diminish the brilliance of mechanical parts that function as designed. What makes them brilliant? They function outside the definition of tyrannical litigious limitations.

The SS has nothing in common with the Slidefire, Binary, Hellfire, Crankfire or the RB FRT-15 FCG. They are flawed machines that require skill to function. Once tuned, a steel SS is a reliable set of parts that increases the ROF legally. The SS functions mechanically, out side of the legal definition of a machine gun. That is its true genius. Tim Hoffman should get Best Firearm Innovator of the last 40 years.

Machine guns are legal. They are a tool as moral, as dangerous and as responsible as their user. Government regulation has limited machine guns economically for new users and consumers. For the first time in 39 years, an invention has economically empowered new users. Firearm supporters should educate themselves on the SS before discouraging them. We need to support this kind of true innovation within firearm design industry.

For those 2A protectors, who fear the SS because a crazy person might do harm, congratulations! You're officially a Fudd or an irrationally fearful liberal. You're on the wrong side of liberty.

Get educated.
Very well worded ?

Yeah, calling that a “super safe” M11/9 is like calling a kit car a Ferrari because it has red paint and a prancing horse sticker

Excellent post. I can’t help but notice that a good super safety thread always seems to be very effective when it comes to outing all of the fudds on a forum or a Facebook group. Almost as effective as an open bolt semi auto thread ?

It's quite fun to watch people squirm when something open bolt comes out.

It's also entertaining as to how many people have no idea what open bolt is! I have more open bolt Marlin Model 50s than anything else open bolt. The Model 50 is rarer than any Mac and in overall production numbers rarer than almost anything on the NFA MG registry at 5000 produced and less than 500 remaining.

After only posting here in the MAC forum very briefly, I think this is probably the first step towards enjoying the place a lot more.

For me personally, if I am going to add a firearm to my collection, I would like to have all the pertinent information, so I can make an informed decision. Since I would like to know, I make it a point to relate information as I understand it, so other members here can have the same opportunity to make an informed decision themselves.

As far as the Super Safety is concerned, I have simply expressed my opinion and given my reasons as to why I have that opinion. If others think it is the greatest thing since sliced bread, good for them. I feel there should be more happiness in the world.

If I am going to add a firearm to my collection, I would like to have all the pertinent information, so I can make an informed decision. Since I would like to know, I make it a point to relate information as I understand it, so other members here can have the same opportunity to make an informed decision themselves.

Because a court has set a legal precedent that the ATF cannot “grandfather” a firearm or firearm conversion device. They can only make determinations as to whether items are or not subject to the Gun Control Act or the National Firearms Act. So it is my understanding that the ATF has determined that open bolt firearms are easily converted to fire automatically and therefore are subject to the NFA.

So I think that, if a collector was interested in purchasing a open bolt semi pistol, a “pre ‘81 DIAS, or a RR machine gun with an unaltered semi auto receiver, converted using an unregistered conversion device, should be made aware of possible legal entanglements…period. If as an informed adult, you wish to move forward with acquiring such items, be my guest.

Whether the post above was ment as a personal attack, I took it that way. Certainly, other members can disagree with my opinion. I don’t take that personally. But I don’t see disparaging someone else, who has a different opinion, is furthering this forum. A laugh or a joke is great. When it is “funny” at another member’s expense I don’t think is positive. I would suggest if that is the kind of forum you seek, I have found Arf Com tends to be big on that. That is why I tend not to spend time there but really enjoy it here. YMMV.

Scott

BTW, when sending in an item to the FATD for determination, all the FATD is supposed to do is determine whether that item is subject to the GCA or the NFA. They don’t actually approve the item, just determine whether or not the item is or is not subject to those two laws.

I have the MAX 10/9 and 10/15 set up for 5.56 and 7.62x39. I haven't taken either to the range in 2 years now. Here is why. Now that you can get a SS in a 3 position selector as opposed to a push button, there is virtually no difference with a transferrable. Yeah they aren't "battle spec" but are just as reliable in my experience as the real things I ran on SWAT and OCONUS.

Once the ATF lost in court over the FRT/SS and then dropped the appeal with the new administration coming in, and hopefully we are close to SBR's and suppressors being off the NFA.... Man what a difference from a year ago....

I wasn't trying to be funny at anyone's expense, and this place seems pretty short on laughs and jokes. When you got posters popping into every RPB semi-auto post insinuating the owner is in possession of an illegal machine gun it's a real downer for those of us who own one - trust me. And you aren't "helping" anyone by "giving out this pertinent information" - but I'm pretty sure you already know that. You're just trying to low key harass guys that own open bolt semi-auto RPB's by repeating ad nauseum some obscure court ruling [that I have never actually seen you cite] that literally no one cares about and that only you "can TRULY understand". There are no "potential future legal entanglements" with these pistols no matter how bad you wish there were. Sorry. No one cares about this mythical "ruling" you keep bringing up. I don't care about it, the ATF doesn't care about it, the federal court system doesn't care about it, and GunBroker sure as Hell doesn't care about it since these pistols are literally bought and sold there on a daily basis. YOU are literally the only person in the entire world who cares about it and the only reason you do is because it gives you a reason to mess with people on the internet. I mean, these pistols have only been floating around on the open market for almost half a century now without a peep, but trust me guys - the great legal scholar A&S Conversions over there on Uzi Talk knows what's REALLY going on with those things!

And I have never posted on Arfcom before but I might consider trying it out now that you mention it. It's not like this place is just buzzing with all sorts of traffic and I can totally understand why.

Maybe this thread needs a little lock with the highschool drama going on.

ARF is basically a cesspool but there is good info there if you can get past the drama.
After AR15.com founder Ed A. died and the family sold the business to Brownells (another family owned business), the moderator activity virtually vanished. There's no reliable technical information to be had there any longer. What accurate information that gets posted is nearly always diluted by garbage and shill posts. I feel sorry for newcomers.

MHO, YMMV, etc.

I feel that since they are safety and not only safe but super safety that the ATF should make them mandatory to be included with all new guns the same way that handguns come with locks
For the purpose of being safe

There is good tech info and a few mods that do their job. The general discussion is a disaster for sure. sometimes you need to wade through a little bit to get to the good stuff. There is a LOT more traffic than Uzi which is good and bad.

I miss Weaponeer. WG is a great place too but it is very builder orianted.

There is more to the story behind ARF than you know.

No doubt.
I haven't gone to the ARFCOM General Discussion or Silencers Sections in several years. Those two were the first to drop off the deep end.
When Tom Bowers had to shut down his subguns.com website due to all the scams, shills, and s__t, it was the beginning of the end.
MHO, YMMV, etc.
