I got my copy today and with a quick pass through it looks promising. I do, however, note a couple of typos on the first pages of the introduction. In several places the author of the introduction has used the word “lead” when he should have used “led.” It’s definitely distracting trying to read through the misspellings, but I’m hopeful it’s a fluke.![]()
You should seriously consider editing your post.
I’m sorry but that’s just uncalled for. And terribly bad manners.
How is it bad manners? I simply pointed out that there were some typos. My own editor has caught typos in my columns, and I've been involved in proofing others' works. It was intended as constructive criticism, not as a put-down. I think any author would like to know of errata in their work so that perhaps they can be corrected in a subsequent edition.
Two things: any book like this is a huge amount of work, a major accomplishment and great resource to anyone interested in Uzis. It is a wonderful piece of work and we are lucky to have it. Let's appreciate it and not make our comments so nitpicky critical. It's absurd I even have to explain this.
Secondly, why not just send a private email to the author and owner of this site with your critique? Why post it in such a public way? That's just disrespectful, crass and poor judgement.
Like I said, bad manners. There is a better way to contribute than publicly criticizing it.
Unfortunately a small handful of errors escaped detection by me and all of the editors that the publisher had on the project. There's an email address in the book and a request to notify me of any errors found. If you take the time to do that, they'll be corrected in the second printing. Then you'll have one of the "first printing" copies that will be more highly sought after when the book is no longer in print.
Ordered my copy today! Need it to go with my new Uzi.
