I got a deal on a weld kit off of a board, can't remember where. I've got a 16 inch barrel with shroud I'd like to be able to switch out. My barrel goes in really tight though so some work would be needed underneath at weld for hanguard post I think. This is by far the most expensive build I've ever done. Well worth it if she runs.....

Looks good. Now get yourself a functional stock so you can switch back and forth. But don't mix them up.

So, one can't put in a 16 inch barrel but keep the welded stock on? I giess it woukd feel better shooting with the full stock though....

As far as I know, you can't do that with a welded up folded stock. Overall length is too short to be considered a rifle. It has to be at least 26" overall. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

99% of the time I keep my pistol in the pistol configuration because I like the the original SMG look.
I occasionally swap it to the rifle config. Its nice to open the stock. But then its back to pistol config with welded closed stock and its hung back up.

Assuming the receiver was never made into a rifle, then it's a pistol since the folding stock welded shut doesn't count as a stock.

Correct that this was a weld kit, made into a pistol. Tgat being said, I shoukd be able to go to a 16" inch barrel and working stock, right?

This is my plan exactly. The welded stock really wouldn't even be needed installed but it gives it that look you know?
