Hello gentlemen, I'm currently in the process of purchasing a Mac-10. It's a Texas M10A1 in 45 with 9mm upper and mags. I've read in 2 articles that the Texas Mac's have a slower rate of fire (750 round per minute). Didn't know if anyone can verify this with actual experience/results. Thanks for the help.

I honestly can't recall ever shooting the factory upper. I am a huge fan of Lage uppers though.

I can tell you that the 45 upper will have a slower rate of fire than the 9mm. Especially if firing 115 gr 9mm for example.

I don't believe that the texas macs have a lower rate of fire than any other mac in the same caliber. I think the big difference there will be in the bullets you feed it.

Congratulations on the purchase. Is the gun in origin condition or has it been updated and welded to MAC/RPB specs? I have one that has been updated and has a Uzi magwell conversion. It runs the same ROF as my RPB M10 in 9mm. To get down to 750 RPM you'll need an aftermarket upper like Lage or Stoney Creek. My RPB has been modified for the TASK conversion. That will slow the factory upper down. I have not done a ROF test. The TASK conversion seems to work better with the M11/NINE because the M11/NINE has more stroke behind the sear than the M10.

I have two Texas marked M10s. One was actually an original Texas gun. The welds eventually cracked and I sent it off to Sam at Practical Solutions for repair plus Uzi mag conversion. He did beautiful work and it runs like a top.

My other one is Texas marked but was actually completed by SWD. It had all the standard parts and proper welds. It is too bad that the Garand type safety on the Texas guns didn’t catch on, it is really a lot more functional than the standard one.

The 45 is slower than the 45?!?! My Ingram M10 in 45 is easily twice as fast as my Lage Max10/31 (124gr and the even slower 165gr pills) even after I slowed it down with the task setup it has! I can't imagine the 9mm! It's gotta be insane!

Have you tried the Lage safety? It is easy to click on and off with your trigger finger. I have one on all three of my M10s and my M11/NINE.

So the seller sent it to Sam at Practical Solutions. First was to go through the gun and Sam said that the gun had a lot of old pieces that needed replaced etc. Also, he sent it to Sam to see if it works on one of his side charging handle upper. Sam tested it with his side charging upper and said it ran flawless. It's a nice package deal with 2 45 uppers and a 9mm upper. Bad thing is it is single feed 9mm upper. But it comes with plenty of 9mm mags. Guy has 2 MACs and is keeping the Powder Springs built. On a Form 4 so hopefully it won't be more than 2 years before she can get time served, not on trustee.

If it has the Cobray logo it probably isn’t a Texas completed gun. SWD finished some Texas marked receivers after the Texas version of the company went under. My original Texas M10 had the Garand type safety and no logo, my SWD completed gun has the regular safety and the Cobray logo.

SWD also added an additional digit to the serial number. My Texas gun is A and either 5 or 6 digits and the SWD is A and either six or seven digits, I don’t recall which, just that SWD has one more digit.

Just to be clear both my guns are marked as M10A1 and made in Texas. SWD didn’t do anything marking wise except add an extra digit to the serial number and put the Cobray logo on it.

I actually just ordered one the other day. Assuming I like it I’ll get a couple more.

Great news. Also what about cleaning? I would love to know the science behind cleaning the gun. Do you use an ultrasonic cleaner? What about cerakote finishes? Anyone running optics?

Most stuff I just blast with brake cleaner. Barrels and bolts I might ultrasonic. Anything with a finish I like won't be put in the ultrasonic. Use a quality lubricant and you should be good. I'm OCD so I oil everywhere and nothing goes in the safe with fingerprints.

I have a Romeo 5 on my OE upper and an EOTech 512 on my Lage upper. I don't recommend the optics mount that is on my OE upper. It came with the gun otherwise I'd not use it.

Are you a Krink fan with that username? I love my Suchka!!

Time is your friend whatever solvent you use.

Brake cleaner can dissolve plastics so beware.

Personally: I don’t like to wet dirty guns initially. It’s like putting water on the soles of dirty (mud) sneakers. It makes mud.

Wipe it down as best you can prior. Baby wipes are good. Mechanical cleaning is always a good thing.

Then soak in your favorite solvent. I like Lucas ultrasonic cleaner and bore solvent. Let it soak and Sonic it ever so often. This is an oil based sonic cleaner so no flash Rusting

Mechanically Wipe it clean again and then do you cleaning (like patches etc )

You could blast w brake cleaner or gun scrubber the. Get to oils and dry.

I looked at the serial number and it is 7 digits. One sided rollmark also

You may notice that the last digit in the serial number is a slightly different font or perhaps not quite in line with the other numbers. Also, if the Cobray is inside a circle that is likely because it was milled off and then later reapplied by SWD. It sounds like you are probably getting a SWD completed gun.
