Sounds great. If you want practical over historic, id replace the paratrooper stock with a Choate folder.

I got to get a carbine barrel threaded. That was sweet.
Thank you.
I always wanted to do a usgi vietnam field mod to my m1 carbine. Therefore, I did this m1 carbine SBR a few years back. I found a repro paratrooper (used) stock off funbroker. I really like the look but somethings a bit out of spec with the stock. The damn handguard seems to always pop off, while shooting. I need to check the parts out with my old usgi parts and see what’s what (I think I need a new barrel band). Regardless, it runs great and always has.

People online kept saying that they were stupid gassy suppressed. I had a brass deflector laying around and used it as a gas buster. There is ZERO debris / gas with it installed. It’s awesome to shoot with or without the can!

Although I had a couple of M1 carbines for some time, the M2 carbine was my first transferable MG. Still have it.

I always figured the gun ( M2 ) wouldn't run suppressed.
Figured if it did you would have added a threaded barrel to it by now.
Or ar least on of the beater M1's and just swap your pack out.

Wondering how my AR 30 carbine is gonna sound now that it is done.
And now I need two spare barrels one,for the enforcer pistol and one for the carbine.

Thanks for the Video kickstand that is a real eye opener as to how well the carbine does with a can.

Looks great. I too love the classic short "Vietnam Advisor" look of an M2 with an M1A1 side folder.

I have an M2 with a registered receiver, and I have a spare nice barrel off to a Smith getting shortened and threaded and while I am waiting, I ham on the fence to go through with the swap immediately as the gun shoots great and handles well as is as a normal carbine (light and handy as is) and really accurate (in semi auto) It is everything you would expect from a handy rifle but can go full auto = almost perfect BUT I love the advisor look but changes it almost to a subgun.

The M1A1 stock looks great but my repro doesn't lock up solidly enough for good control which doesn't help my decisiveness to swap barrels. And I worry swapping barrels several times may not be good for the receiver (paranoid I guess)

How is the noise after suppression is it close to hearing safe? It sounds quiet in the video.
Short 30 carbines are a sharp crack and I think a suppressor takes the serious edge off.

Nice gun thanks for sharing.

I’m honestly not sure how it sounds without ears on. I just test the one mag with it and I was close to the berm.
I might take it to my friends 40 acre pit this weekend and put it through its paces.
If I do, I’ll try it without ear pro and report back.
I understand your concerns about replacing the barrel, as I’m extremely cautious with my transferable’s. I doubt you’d ever shoot the barrel out and replacing it to OG barrel with a K barrel shouldn’t hurt it. If you haven’t ever replaced a barrel, I’d have a competent gunsmith do it though. Better to be safe than sorry. If you already have a barrel getting cut down, I’d do it.

Lastly, the m1a1 repro stocks are apparently hit or miss. Mine won’t even hold the oiler in it. I’m going to crimp my oiler holder down and that should solve that issue. I’m still not sure what’s going on with the upper handguard. I’m going to check the barrel band and handguard to some OG ones I have. I’ll probably pull the front sight off and replace some parts with OG parts. Hopefully, that solve that issue. Once those two items are taken care my stock will be good to go. You might be able to tighten the stock on your folder.

I had that happen with a handguard pop off from my M1A1 stock set set and what it was (for me anyway) It was a Sarco repro (probably the low end) was the front ledge of the actual stock (where the barrel band clamp/lug get pushed back to hold it together was not going back far enough - I had to relieve/remove some of that wood ledge back - allowing the bbl band to go back a little more so a good amount of the upper hand guard ledge would engage. I think in shooting it vibrates back and forth a little under recoil and worked its way off even though there wasn't physical hitting of the upper wood handguard from the op rod. It can be a lot of things as the dimensional precision of these repros leaves a lot to be desired.

Cherenkov:

I wouldn't worry to much about swapping barrels.
Both my receivers were bought stripped.
Both checked out as Iver Johnson pistol receivers so I did one as a M1carbine with a IJ parts kit from everygunpart
And the other as a Enforcer IJ pistol kit came off Ebay of all places.
I just borrowed Kramers barrel wrench and used the vise on the mill to twist it on.
They are typical righty tighty no hidden surprises.
Getting it off I'd recommend a bit of heat they are super tight to get on so they gotta be a bear to get off.

From what I've read, M2 carbines with the paratrooper stock were quite popular with Texas Rangers for a time. Made for a compact package in the trunk.
