I was referring to them separately as the mechanical operation is different between say a rarebreed and a super safety. Yes, the SS is an FRT. The SS wont tolerate any bolt bounce. It will do hammer follow. I have only messed with a WOT (original rarebreed knockoff) and its only strongpoint imo is its relative insensitivity to bolt bounce.
So yeah, they are all the same concept. But iff discussing technical things it is best in my opinion to seperate them out into their trade names. A diesel motor is a diesel motor. But if we were discussing fuel systems, it would be good to know if it is a poppet, oil pressure, or piezo electric injection. And then the sub types of those. So just being pedantic for clarity.

On my WOT, the trip lever interrupts the trigger. So the lever has to be pushed in order for it to fire. If the bolt bounces back just slightly, it will interrupt the trigger.
The SS has that little bit of slop designed into the lever. So the safety barrel needs to roll all of the way foreward in order to fire. But if the bolt bounces, the lever slop is enough that the safety will not rotate and prevent the trigger from being pulled. If you have a lot of bolt bounce, the cam of the super safety will introduce enough work load that the trigger will still be pulled.
The bolt bounce thing is in my opinion the only design drawback to the super safety. It is easily remedied however. The simplicity and efficiency of the design make it a good engineering tradeoff.
As is probably obvious, I suspect I have a little bit of tism that makes me pedantic lol.

This might be unrelated but it sounds potentially similar.

On my SS 22lr, I have been getting micro hang fires. It shows up as a small stutter in the ROF and can be felt while firing. The trigger fires a micro second later than normal FRT.

Anti bounce weight changes don’t resolve it and I’ve already shimmed the lever into the cam.

My guess is that it has to do with the variable “slop” in the cam/lever.

I’m very slowly filing on my bore buddy SS trip to make it fire sooner. So far it seems to be decreasing the micro hang fires

Since I'm an FFL / SOT, I am thinking to just make a post sample .308 lower. I have seen the Genesis 12 but that is pretty expensive for a toy. Didn't know if any of you have any experience with other alternatives that would work on a 308 lower? Thanks!

The genesis upper is the only one that I am aware of. Plastic trips are a bad idea imo.
There is the Chinese JTS M12AR complete gun. I heard about it from Mark Serbu, he was going to make it a MG. Not sure if he ever figured it out. It uses a bunch of AR components. Bolt is unique, but has much of the same AR features. It is a little more like an AR10 bolt, where the sear catch point on the bolt is higher then an AR15. Mine with a SS runs in the low 600 rpm's. It is a piston run gun.

Thanks for the info. I see some Youtube videos of some people trying SS's with the JTS and they look hard to control. The videos on the Genesis looks impressive with its short recoil action. I may just have to save my pennies for the Genesis.

Has anybody had any issues with breaking Super Safety trip levers?
Brassfacts on youtube mentioned that he had broken multiple metal levers. I hadnt heard of anyone breaking a metal lever before. I have quite a bit of rounds through multiple setups, and have never had any issues. Wouldnt surprise me if the youtube guy was somehow abusing it. Maybe the bolt was going to far back and catching on the trip? He mentioned it happened with a Fightlite upper.

I've never broken one but I function test before I shoot them. Lots of people have no clue how they work and don't understand how to function test. They just shoot and break them.

Thats kinda what I was thinking. I have always done extensive function testing before sending it. I prefer the trim the trigger if I am getting the lever to hang up on the bolt, or feels "sticky". I know a lot of people recommend shaving the top of the lever down. Which the only time I installed an off the shelf trigger that was precut, it wasnt quite far enough, and the bolt was sticky.
The way I see it, is if I mess up and overcut a trigger, that is like $5 from B kings. If I mess up and overcut a lever, that is quite a bit more expensive. As well as a modified lever is not going to work the same with another trigger.

Hoffman has outdone himself. He has a new FRT that he calls Trigger Kicker. It replaces the disconnector and uses stock hammer, trigger, and selector. Not clear if it's selectable but who really cares.

As long as the ROF is in the low 600's there's no need for a selector.

I wonder how sensitive this is to trigger pressure. If it's puled hard, will it stop the bolt? Hopefully less than RareGreed.
