FRT discussions are all mixed in various threads so I’m not sure which one to post in anymore 🤣

A video of a 1919 FRT popped up on FB today. Things are getting spicy with that and also a 249 FRT in design

It seems like there are more Lage 22 kit sales offers than there used to be. I wonder if the new Practical Solutions uppers are contributing to this or maybe FRT/SS options. We definitely live in interesting times
There should probably be a sub forum now dedicated to just FRT, SS and other variants. The whole forum gets clogged up with frt this and frt that. Yada. Yada. Yada. Sucks to live in Florida!!! I’m jealous. :-((((((

Not that I’ve seen and I’d definitely remember because I’m a FAL guy (with a form-4 FAL)

We just had some gun control bills hit the PA house.
One of them would have ended the frt scene here and turned us into florida or any other state with restrictions.
Thankfully they were defeated. Accept the no more private sales bill.
Other 4 bills died.
So like a good serf I wrote my local senator.

Anywho PA dodged a bullet with the ones that died.
So for now PA is still frt friendly roaring 20's style.

Nice think I'll buy one.

Also after looking at the site I really want one for my H&K SP5 but I'm not sure what all I need to make it run.
I'm guessing everything they have listed for the SP5.
Would that be correct?
Not difficult to do. Lee sporting lower, Hoffman SS, Rounded Hammer to mp5 profile. See pic of when I built my zenith mp5k. Upgrading though to the ARSS by As Designs as its selectable and not as finicky to trigger pressure as others. Stay away from rare breed , had one and sold it as it was super finicky. Along with how they are going after everyone making any type of SS.

I shot a couple semi-auto pistols today 🤣

I just about have the 5.45 AK and Coharie Mp5 dialed in. The factory PSA trigger with the FRT is rather “slappy.” My Mak90 with FRT is hardly noticeable. I might try changing out the PSA trigger and retest

I'd like to know what the difference between your AK FRTs/triggers is. Mine works well but the trigger slap is pretty high.

Me too. If I figure it out I’ll let you know. The Mak90 used one of the higher dollar replacement triggers that came with the FRT

As expected, it’s the amount of trigger reset and the smoothness and ease of the disconnector reset. My Mak90 has an ALG trigger in it. Both trigger/disconnect resets are a small amount of movement so there’s much less trigger movement needed (and no slap).

The PSA trigger requires a long trigger reset and klunky disconnector reset so it requires a long trigger movement and slap

I swapped the ALG into my 5.45 Krink and now it’s smooth.

I have a FIME trigger also but it had a longer reset so I didn’t try it.

On a different note, I also got my mp5k with SS dialed in today. It’s an old Coharie clone. The printed SS lower I had needed the shelf height adjusted. Now it runs great

Thanks, yes I expected that but was hoping it was something else. Skoprints said that their FRT was designed to use the FIME trigger set so I got one of those. I'll see if I can modify it before getting an ALG set. Your results are encouraging. The AR-15 FRTs are better but the AK is still fun.

I have the typical 16" carbine AR. I installed a Deez Nuts SS, a new full-auto bolt carrier group, and an Odin Works buffer assembly set to H3 weight (keeping the carbine buffer spring). SS worked for 3 rounds, but has since encountered light primer strikes.

I’ve ordered SpringCO blue and red springs to test whether that will resolve the issue. I’ve also read that some people have success with lighter springs, heavier springs, or adding buffer weight (more than H3), so who knows.....

Try it with H2 and H1 weight.

I’ve never used that kind of buffer. Do the weights slide like a conventional buffer?

The new ALG trigger dropped into my krink in a few minutes. The most time consuming part was getting the safety fitted and that took two install/removals

After a few installs I’m finally getting this AK frt thing figured out 🤣

The ALG trigger frt feels much smoother on the reset and less slappy. The test fire will prove it out or not

My mak90 with ALG trigger didn’t have anything much that I noticed.

My 5.45 krink with PSA trigger was definitely slappy.

My buddy’s 223 krink with PSA trigger is slappy.

I replaced my 5.45 krink PSA trigger with an ALG and it feels much better while manually function testing. I’ll report back once I get it test fired and if I have to do any more fitting

My PSA trigger took a ton of fitting to get it working. The ALG both went very easily. I dremeled the trigger using the trigger guide and everything magically worked

I think the shorter reset on the ALG is what makes it nicer than the FIME or standard triggers

More to come
