M10 45 drums

PPSH-41 drum modified for M10 45 built in 2008

I thought I was one of the only ones who made one that worked!

I recently saw Troys....Great work!!

I removed the scroll and rolled out the bead, then rolled the drum body bead flat.

I needed even more room to allow for teflon strips so I built a drum stretcher

Then weld on new tower reinforcement plate

Wow. Expanding/stretching the drum body requires some serious know-how. :bowGood job.

A 9mm is a whole lot easier....no bead rolling, stretching...and cheaper!!

I had to search out this thread.... I am trying to decide just how hard this conversion is to do? I have five Suomi Drum mags and a dozen of the steel Recon Ordance M11/9 mags so I can cut a few for towers.

The issue is I am not a welder but I need a new hobbie so perhaps I should look for a modest tig welder and start learning?

Anyone got a recent link to a deal on Suomi magazines? I'd like to turn one of these drums into an m10/9 drum but I'd rather not chop a $50 mag from Lage. The best I can find is about 2/$40.

I tried my hand at a Suomi/ZMAG tower this weekend. I placed the tower ammo divider bend at the wrong location in the tower and that created a pinch spot that slows down the feed rate. Looks like I will try again next week after I get another ZMAG. :)

I've been making a couple of these recently for Uzis and I keep them "serviceable" until the end. I went so far as to drill and tap the magazines and use screws to hold in the "tower spacer" because everything has had to come back apart a few times on all of them. I also use what appears to be a thicker material for the middle... might help with warping.

Good luck with your drum, these things can be frustrating.
