Hi,
I post a question on the Uzi talk board about converting my full size Uzi to a Mini. But I was also thinking about either selling or trading my Uzi for a Sterling. Right now I don't have the money to own one of each so I'm trying to make a decision on which one to buy or keep. For those who have shot or own both the Uzi and Sterling. Which one do you like best? And how does the full size and mini Uzi compare to the Sterling. (I know the mini is alot faster than the others) Thanks for any info you may have!

Kind Regards,
Kirk

I own both, have shot both and wouldn't sell either one. They are different guns and have different pros and cons. The Uzi wins hands down on versatility (caliber conversions, quick change barrels, etc.). The Sterling is a magnificent 9mm sub gun IMO. I can keep it on target easily and it hops around less than the Uzi at slow rates of fire. I think it's a better gun for competing for that reason.

I still stick with what I said before, the Uzi is a wife and the Sterling is a mistress.

YMMV

Good luck with a tough decision.

What a tough choice. You must really have both.

The Uzi is rugged, reliable and very adaptable. You can change calibers, stocks, and it's easy to suppress. Spare parts/mags are plentiful and cheap. And it IS the world's most recognizable SMG.

The Sterling is soooo smooth and is about the coolest looking gun out there. I have an Andrewski/DLO gun and the finish work is just outstanding.

But , if I could only have one, it would have to be the Uzi.

Son likes the Uzi much more than the Sterling, in particular due to the mag location.

Plus for the Uzi is that it is smaller (not an issue for me as have MP5K), much easier to add a suppressor or optics or change to 22LR (have little wish for 45 in an Uzi as that is why Thomsons were made ;-).

For shooting steel plates, the Sterling is a little smoother and the front sight is a tiny bit better (for steel plates).

For any "only" NFA I would stick with something larger than a mini Uzi for everyday shooting ... but then I really would like a rifle caliber if only had one ... possible a LMG ;-)

What they said..... You gotta have both! Don't let your wife see the thing about the wife and mistress, she won't understand that logic. Let her shoot the Uzi and a Sterling,,,,, the Sterling she can say is hers!:D
