So while I was looking to modify some mags it was in between orders for machined catches. Being an engineer I wasn't going to let that hold me back! :twoguns
Using the dimensions that Concorde gave I modeled up and had some stainless steel (bronze infused) catches 3D printed through Shapeways.

Looking at the pictures you'll notice a few things. The first are the holes. Pricing on a printer is by two factors: volume of material used & a flat fee per part.
The holes are there to lower the amount of material volume used to lower the cost of the parts.

You lower the cost of the flat fee by connecting multiple parts together. So if you look at the end of one (er two) of the catches you'll see a little dot.
I used the smallest connector I could to connect two of them. A quick snip with wire cutters and some quick hand file runs and they are just like the singular one I had printed.

Here's the first one bonded to a sten mag.

Anyhow, if any one wants these I turned them viewable and feel free to order them.
Here's the cheaper connected pair:

Here's the singular one:

If for some reason those links don't work just search suomi or sten at shapeways.com and you'll find em.

If you have suggestions that maybe I didn't think of on the models let me know.

Is there another batch coming? I would be in for six. If not who wants to sell me some of their converted mags?

Package with the fittings came in today's mail... I'll get them repackaged, addressed, and mailed out to the current group on Monday or Tuesday.

So now that these have been in use for a couple of years, is there some concensus on the best way to attach the tabs? I haven't read back through all 25 pages here, but I've scanned through most of it. There was one mention I saw where a super glued tab popped off.

Any issues with solder? I see mention of silver solder, but is that just a generic term being used? Or is the silver content needed for adequate strength? Ot are other "lesser" solders working well?

I ordered and received some tabs several months ago, but I'm just now getting around to converting some mags. I initially did one with a torch and brazing rod. There was some clean-up required with a file afterward, but the test run at the range went flawlessly.

Now I've got two more brazed together, and two that I used a tin/lead solder on. The solder requires much less heat, and is easier to use. But again, I'm curious about long-term durability.

With my luck, I'd be in the middle of a match and go to change mags and end up breaking off a tab, and leaving it in the gun, blocking the next mag from being inserted.

Here's a few mags. On the right is one just after being soldered. Middle is a brazed tab, and the left one was the one I brazed, cleaned up, and shot.

Also, has anyone tried installing an overtravel stop on the front of the mag? It would help out of you forget to seat the mag with the "push-pull" motion.

There should be no need for additional mag stops. The top of the tabs stop the mags from over travel.

Yes... Mostly. Most of my mags will over-insert just enough - maybe 1/8" or 1/16". It's enough to hang up the bolt.
