So what have you done to buy your giggle switch?

1. Be raised in a family that taught me to save up for what I wanted. If my old man didn't have the money to pay for something in full, we went without until he did. The only thing he ever was in debt for was the mortgage on the house.

2. Marry an understanding woman who knew from the beginning that I was a full blown gun nut and who has willingly enabled my addiction.

3. Stay married to understanding wife in item 2; divorces are hella expensive.

4. No kids.

5. Life is full of choices; DIDN'T buy 35k bass boats or 50k dually trucks/sports cars.

6. Be old enough to have bought my first machine gun in 1980, before the Hughes M.G. ban came down. That gun was a NIB West Hurley 1928 Thompson I paid $695 for, top dollar at the time. Still have it. The only problem is that one of 'em leads to another, and another, and another... LIFE IS GOOD!!!

Someday we'll say "I just bought my _________ in 2015 for $20,000 and the $200 tax, still have it" and people will say "you suck".

Well, I bought my Uzi in 2006 for less than I am seeing M11s listed for today.

The M11/9 I bought in 2002 was $740 and no transfer tax.

Yeah, bac0n, being around back in the day of (relatively) cheap machine guns is one of the few benefits of being an old fart. At my "seasoned" age, full auto may not be better than sex quite yet, but it's startin' to run a close second...:devil

I found in '02 one human kidney could get you a Colt M16A1. I should have sold the other one and "bought" a second Colt.

Sold off what I could..
Borrowed what I could..
Did a couple side jobs..

Did Not Tell the Wife.................till later

Bought local from someone I'd dealt with previously.......Made the deal real easy.

Yes I'm glad I bought.....I've not made a bunch on my investment..but I've not lost a cent.

All of the above and worked overtime at work when I could.

Went to the local subbie match.

Tried a bunch of guns.

Got on the phone to find the guns I liked. (Internet?)

Sent money to people I'd never met.

Sent money and pictures of myself to the government.

Waited forever (bunch of lost stamps).

Started running the local C-3 match.

Sounds easy doesn't it?

Like many, bought silencers a few years ago and found out I could buy a MG. Saved money, sold some unused gun stuff. Was looking for an Uzi, could not find one but found a M10-45 and bought it for what seemed too much at the time. A few weeks later found out there was an Uzi for sale locally and could not pass it up. Scrounged and bought it for what seemed too much.
LOVE shooting the subguns....... The disease struck again, and it was time to move up a bit. I had some money left over after paying taxes, worked some extra time and hid the money from my wife. Have a Chauchat and a Jap type 99 LMG waiting for approval. It seems like I paid too much for these too.
As far as what I do to buy MGs, it is a simple matter of choice. Some people like to buy fancy cars, while I keep my vehicles till the wheels fall off, and use the savings to buy what matters to me.

My sister and I sold the house we inherited from my mother. I have a very understanding wife who supported me when I said I wanted to buy a BRP Guns U9. She's known I've wanted a full auto since we started dating in the late 80's. She likes to shoot too and the first time she pulled the trigger she couldn't stop smiling. I'm still waiting for my form 4 to come back, but I'm hoping it will be soon.
