Hi Everyone,
I have a full size Vector Uzi and I wanted to know your thoughts on the idea of trading my Uzi for a Sterling (Andrewski etc...) What are your likes and dislikes about either one. (I know that this is a loaded question). Also, does anyone have any pictures showing the difference between a Stenling and a Sterling. I know that one was a Sten tube modified to a Sterling. But I thought I remember something about the bolt slot being different. Any information is appreciated!

Thanks!
Trenchknife

PS-does anyone have any other video clips of them shooting their Sterling? I have seen the one that is posted right now.

Tough call ! Uzi has different caliber options via kits. Sterling has super reliable roller-follower magazines. Uzi has vertical magazine in pistol grip, Sterling has Magazine horizontal out to the left side.

Sounds like a personal preference call to me!

Or, go for both.

OH SOOOOO KEEP THE VECTOR UZI! Get the Sterling, just pay it off with a dealer...there are plenty dealers willing to take payments....you will regret trading the Vector.(TRUST ME):( ...it traumatized me so bad when i did it I bought 5 MINI VECTORS to cover the pain.

The Sterling is more one dimensional than the Uzi. It just happens to be very good at one thing: 9mm unsuppressed. It is well balanced and controllable. Your Uzi is versatile, dependable and won't let you down.

Keep the Uzi. Scrimp and save for the Sterling. One is like your wife, the other is a mistress. :D

Vector and Sterling price increases

I see Sterlings for $ 6800 on this web site and a full sized Uzi for $ 6000. Does anyone have a feel for the current rate of appreciation ? Are these going up $ 500 to $ 1000 per year. How much do I need to panic ? Will the prices level off somewhat once fewer people are able to afford these ?

*Consults his magic8ball...

It sez: "Both the UZI & the Sterling are likely to appreciate $1.5K annually!"

My Uzi has more than doubled since Dec 2002 aided by the pop when Vector ran out.

The Andrewski Sterling build "feels" like the Vector market did prior to buildout. I winced and bought one at $5995 in mid -June. They are now around $6800. When they're gone, I expect them to pop $1000 minimum.

"New" gun builds seem to jump rapidly and then eventually stabilize and grow at the overall NFA market rate which is where Vectors seem to be these days. The Sterlings will probably do the same - unless DLO "discovers" another 400 transferable tubes! LOL!

I would not trade an Uzi for a Sterling. The Uzi is perfect for adding a suppressor and can shoot various calibers. Shooting the 22 conversion kit suppressed is one of my favorites. The Sterling is an outstanding subgun, but does not offer the extras like the Uzi.

Keep the UZI

I love my UZI! I shoot it way more than my MP5 or M11/9. The Sterling is a nice gun but at $6900+/- it is not a smoking deal like the UZI was. You can still get a NIB Vector for around $6K. $900 will buy a lot of ammo and accessories!

For that reason alone I would keep the Uzi. Uzi's have a lot more options available in the form of after market and parts. I don't recall seeing to much for Sterling.

In my opinion, they are both required and neither of mine are for sale! Muzzleflash said it best,,, Do what ever it takes to own both, I don't think you will find used Sterlings for sale.

I did, no regrets

I did that very same thing, traded my Vector Uzi for a Sterling. First let me say my Uzi was an excellent weapon, very reliable and controllable. The Uzi is more versatile (caliber conversions, easy to suppress). If I could only have one it just might be an Uzi. However, I've got a few other subguns with suppressors and caliber conversions, so all the Uzi accessories didn't mean much to me. The only dislikes I had of the Uzi was that it was heavy for it's size, and it felt "choppy" when fired. And once I fired a Sterling I knew I had to have one, and the only way was to trade the Uzi. I have no regrets, the Sterling is much smoother and controllable, just as reliable, and much more comfortable. It's the one weapon that always goes to the range with me.

Concrats,,,, I love my Uzi but the people who have fired both always ask for more Sterling! The ROF and controllability always leaves even the girls smiling!
