I've only sold two guns in my life and I bought them both back. I've got a problem with selling a gun, even a BAD gun. (one that doesn't work) I will not sell a gun to criminals. I will not sell a gun that isn't reliably to good people. They may have to use it to save their lives, so it going to work at least when I give it to them. That said, I've got no way to rid myself of guns that don't work.Thank God, I've picked wisely and I'm pretty good at tinkering.
Now about the guns that do work. I used to think that eventually I would treat guns like cars. You buy your first car and in your eyes it's the best in the world. Every night you say the Marine riflemans pray except you use the word car instead of rifle.
By the time you get your 20th. car you can't even remember what you've traded in. It just never got like that for me with guns. I figure I've got a small collection, about 20 of each and a couple C3s. I feel if I had sold any of my guns, I would have ended up with what the news laughingly calls an arsenal (a hunting rifle,a shotgun,22 rifle, and a pistol.) I know, I know, They would be the BEST FOUR GUNS money could buy, but they wouldn't be a collection.
Turns out I'm not really going any where with this. I'm just running laps. I don't know if not being able to sell guns is good or bad. For me it just is! savoo

Oups! my mistake. COOKIE

I just realized I'm putting these in the wrong place. They're in UZI BSing and they should be in general BSing. Sorry about that. savoo

savoo, I moved the thread for you.

I have regrets any time I sell a gun. (And that's try for many other people around here.) I haven't sold many and it was generally the right choice each time, but I still miss them.

The only guns I REALLY regret selling were the guns I bought back in the mid 1970's that I sold in the early 1980's to go to college. I was buying beautiful Winchesters for under $300 each (nice stuff like 1873's in odd calibers or 1892 takedowns, all in very nice condition). Man I wish I had those now!

After my divorce two years ago, I was forced to sell 22 guns out of my collection. It's what seemed necessary at the tiime to avoid financial ruin. Six preban AR's, DS FAL, M1A, a very rare "Rojak" FAL paratrooper (1 of 200 ever imported), a Mark 23, several early Kimbers, and so on. I am getting sick just thinking about. Some of those guns are irreplaceable. In general, I miss every one of them.
When I was getting out of college and preparing to get married, I sold several handguns. I regret that, too. The things men do for women. :(

I enjoy trading guns. You can come over to my house today and I'll open the safe you and I'll price all but 4-5 guns that have some type sentimental value. I don't consider myself a trader because I'm not one of the guys you see walking around guns shows with 3-4 guns for sale or trade, but I'd sell or trade one just the same.

I've sold one, and traded another, and don't regret either experience.

I agree with treedawg. Are there guns i regret selling? sure. but there are cars/tools/motorcycles i regret selling. Guns are inanimate objects...no matter how much you love that AR or FAL it ain't going to love you back.

I have a few guns i hope i never have to get rid of: A S&W Revolver in 45 Colt that my dad had...a beautiful German Luger that a now deceased vet brought back....the list goes on but it isn't a long one.

I bought a NIB Vector Uzi, waited, altogether, a year and a half to take possession. I am contemplating selling it because while its a cool toy, its not something that i really enjoy...maybe i will change my mind, but at this point, it may get sold and something else bought...

You can hang on to a gun for your life and die with it in your safe. Unless your kids put some value on it, its going to get sold just like your tool set/clothes/other belongings.

Not neccessarily. I'm planning on being buried with my M16. (No, I won't tell ya where! Besides, with luck it won't be anytime soon.) :D

Well presign a form 4 and you can have all of it except the receiver.

Every January I submit a 365-day 5320, destination Heaven and Hell, so I'm covered either way. If/when I use it, BATF can come after me when it expires. I wouldn't be the first guy to meet my maker with an M16 in my hands ... and if I'm headed the other way, I'll need the firepower. I like the idea of spending eternity with my finger on the trigger of a machine gun.

Edited to add: Jeez, I just read what I posted, and even for me it's strange.:D

I was hoping you were going to post a follow-up message saying you were kidding about this. Not the kind of thing I like to read about on UziTalk, unless it's at a bargain basement price :D.

I almost haven't taken anything else to the range in the seven months I've had mine. Oh well, you gotta do what makes you happy.

As far as selling goes, I've only sold two guns and they were both for the purpose of raising money to upgrade to a gun that I wanted a lot more.

I find it emotionally difficult to part with a toy that I've worked hard to buy and become attached to, so I try to avoid it, if at all possible.
