Is it possible to have a model A reclassified to SBR? What would be the details, if this is possible??? Would this affect the value of the gun?

You can make any NFA item with the exception of Machine guns.

To make your own SBR you will fill out an ATF Form 1, send in you $200 transfer tax, when it comes back approved you can build (in this case cut your barrel) your SBR.

To do a Form 1 you will either need a Trust or LLC set up or:
Get a LEO sign off, plus 2 passport photos, plus 2 set of finger prints.

That is the quick and simple answer for you. Look up buying/making NFA items for tons of information.

Would this modification change the value??? Would a buyer have to go thru NFA hoops??

value? questionable...if someone is in the market for an SBR, probably- if someones in the market for title 1, probably not.. yes, any potential buyer will have to go through the NFA paperwork to purchase it..

I think you can have the ATF remove an SBR from the NFA registry. At that point, you have to put a long barrel back in ... and it has your name, city and state stamped on it .... but if it reverts back to a Title I firearm, you can sell it without the buyer going through the NFA hoops.

As the maker of the SBR your are

required by law to have your name, city, and state engraved in receiver. Here is a link that can help you. http://www.titleii.com/

I did a build on a SBR Yugo M-92 and been there done that. Just a bit of paper work.

Yes depending on how much value your gun. As stated you have to put your name and city and state on it since you are now the new mfg. of the new gun. Most buyers don't like having someone elses name on a gun they want to buy. But if you're never gonna sell it then no biggy. And yes anyone wanting it has to go thru the same process you did to buy it.

It's also permissible to engrave your name and address on the barrel to fulfill the SBR requirements. If you ever decide to have the gun returned to Title 1 status, you can replace the short barrel with a new 16" barrel.

I was not aware that you could just stamp a barrel instead of the receiver. If that's the case, it's probably easier to just have the barrel stamped if that's the case. You wouldn't have to mail or drop off your receiver for someone to do the engraving for you. That saves some real hassles for sure.

The only downside to engraving a barrel is that you are limited to that one barrel. If you decide to replace it, you'll need to spring for new engraving.

That is a down side...I also thought about that.

is there actually enough room on the short barrel of the uzi to fit the info on there? does it have to be on the exposed part or can you put it on the part that goes inside the gun between the trunion and barrel restrictor band?

it has to be placed conspicuously on the "barrel, frame, or reciever". in the "old days" they were ok with a much looser interpretation... folks would engrave wherever. there are a lot of AR15 conversions out there with the maker's info engraved on the little "stub" of the reciever where the pistol grip mounts.
