I have owned an AR15 SBR in 7.62mm for some time now and love it. Have had no problems with it. Would like to make some mods to it but am not up on the legality of adding stuff. The lower is registered as a short-barrel. So can a gas piston setup or a three-shot burst trigger setup be installed and still be legit? I do not want to spend the next several years as Bubba's horizontal dance partner.

SBR is any length barrel with a butt stock on a SBR reg. lower rec. The piston kit is legal on any type of rifle. Three shot burst will only work with an auto sear of some type, at that point, you now have a machine gun....say hi to Bubba.

If you already had an NFA gun ie, your FA reciever why sid you have to register it as an SBR? Or am I missing something?

It sounds like it is an SBR lower and he is asking whether or not he can install a M-16 FCG.

If that is the case, doing so is very illegal.

Installing a gas piston upper of any length is perfectly fine.

If I mis-read your post, my apologies.
