Why did that Beretta go so crazy?

My guess?

1) No transferable PM12s in the registry until these samples were reclassified.
2) Not that many were reclassified.
3) That particular one looked like it was in new condition.

So the ones that have popped up for sale (not in an auction) have been selling around $50-$60k. And they were used and show it.
This one looked new, no scratches from opening and folding the stock, no wear on the charging handle, no wear or scratches on the grips. Plus it had it's original sling, which is a hard accessory to find.

Add all this up and you get a perfect storm for collectability.

All that being said, I think the price is ridiculous, but if you're a collector and have deep pockets, you'll probably never see another one in that condition.
The only thing missing from the package would be the original cardboard box with brown paper that it came in, and the 3, 32 round mags. And who knows, it probably did come with them and they just weren't mentioned.

I define crazy as the prices for all transferable machine guns, from M11's to Mini Guns. It's the degree of craziness that should be considered
